Did she take her life? I’m so sorry.

PP and no, but Covid nearly activated all of her latent health issues; she had been widowed for a decade and loved living alone; suddenly she was frightened and anxious and needed someone with her at all times. Had to get on SSRIs and then had adverse effects from new meds-became manic and disoriented. Ushered in an era of hospitalizations and moved into a nursing home. Significant cognitive decline. Died quite suddenly of a heart attack.

Sounds like she wasn't long for this world with or without covid.

Ok, but why would you say that?

Because the pp previously said she died as a result of covid. Upon providing further details, that is almost certainly false. This is true with a large number of deaths attributed to covid.

Yale is running a LISTEN study for people with long covid and post-vaccine syndrome. (Both conditions have similar symptoms.) Unclear if you have to be local to participate or not.

No, but you do have to be a middle-class white woman.

Studies say no. The highest rates of post-COVID symptoms are among Latinos, and among persons who are not Latino but are also neither white nor Black. "Results from this study are consistent with U.S Census Bureau estimates of PCC by race/ethnicity, which showed that 18% of Hispanic or Latino respondents and 19% of non-Hispanic other races reported Long COVID (defined as symptoms lasting 3 or more months) compared with 14% of non-Hispanic White and 12% of non-Hispanic Black respondents."

Allergist said any intense virus can cause it, but they are seeing it fairly often from Covid.

I now take 6 allergy pills a day, run air purifiers in every room of the house, and try not to go outside if it hasn’t rained recently.

Sounds more like anxiety. Have you tried an SSRI?

You think someone’s face balloons to that size because of anxiety? Your psychiatry license should be revoked…oh wait.

You believe everything you read on Dcum? Particularly in the health forum?

This is a good point; your input is silly, so I'm not sure why I'm engaging with it seriously.

Data shows that long covid occurs more frequently in women.

Post-vaccine syndrome occurs across demographics.

My spouse had similar symptoms from long covid and was prescribed duloxetine which has been incredibly helpful - it reduced migraines / nerve pain from multiple times a week to be very rare occurrences now. Fatigue has also improved a lot. It was prescribed by a long Covid clinic and the neurologist said they had a lot of success with using duloxetine

The success of duloxetine on long covid is quite telling, isn't it?

Well, that PP also said they only go outside if it has rained recently, due to allergies. Anybody with allergies that bad and that much input from doctors would know that allergies are worse after rain. PP is listening to quacks.

Shhh! Don't tell them what duloxetine is for!
