Sophomore at W&M who transferred from a much larger school because the class sizes and TA-led labs were a poor fit. Great advisor, reputation for great undergrad teaching is well deserved and plenty to do on/off campus. |
This is a feature of what's called Golidlocks schools - not to big/not to small, not too urban/not too rural, etc.
Depending on the list I highly recommend considering ED for the higher ranked schools in this group. |
Wake at 3600 kids was MY Goldilocks school |
I thought Wake was larger than this, more like 5,500 undergrads. Has enrollment grown exponentially since you attended? |
Dp, yes, Wake has grown. Currently at 5500. |
American University. |
William and Mary
Cal Tech & Ivies - but impossible to get into U Miami - but incredibly expensive (over $90k). |
Yes, Wake was in the 3600-3800 range in the 90s. I loved it at that size. I have heard from my fellow alum with kids now there that they built over what used to be parking lots so now students have a lot of trouble with having a car on campus. They have also changed how the greek system operates and is housed (or not) on campus. |
Northeastern Has 20K undergrads. So 2-4x what the OP asked |
I laughed when I saw the title thread . I was trying to think of schools with 5 students. |
That is the size my Senior likes.
Georgetown, W&M, BC and some Ivies. |
Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois (an upscale suburb of Chicago) has about 8,200 undergraduates. |
There is a lot less need for a car now that three years on campus is required, and four years available, but there is still parking adjacent to the dorms. It’s a credit to Wake that they were able to expand while keeping kids on campus and preserving their super low class sizes. And it’s nice to have so many new dorms. |
My daughter loves the size of W&M. |
I think it's such a good size. I'm hoping my kid pulls it from the maybe pile to the yes pile for applications. |
