The definition of “soul” is easily found online. Nobody here has their own personal definition. Nobody here has a definition that is more accurate than the definition you can read with just a simple search. “We” aren’t going to define what a soul is here in this anonymous thread. My goodness, tamp down your arrogance just a bit. |
Science doesn’t have the power, tools, or knowledge to detect souls. |
Why don’t you explain the contrast between your soul and life on earth….what you believe about karma…what you believe about soul bonds if you believe in them…and your purpose of you believe that. If you want people to answer your questions, why don’t you explain how you feel about the things you are asking, and why you want to know about how people feel about these things? You must have a reason why you care about how people think about these things, and you must have your own opinions about these things. |
I don’t think anyone should tell op their thoughts about the multiple questions they asked until op gives their answers. It’s rude to ask these questions and not tell people how you feel and why you are asking these questions. |
? It would have the power, and does, to detect if there's anything leaving your body at death. Your "essence" is just your personality, which dies when the brain dies. Any other conceptualization is just conjecture. |
If they can't be detected - if there is no evidence for them - then why believe they exist? |
I am not an atheist and agree with all of this. |
I believe we are souls first, that have been granted a body to experience incarnation with physical and emotional connection with other embodied souls. We learn compassion, empathy, and bad things, like hatred and jealousy. Our job is to know the difference of doing good for just yourself vs. the greater number. We get second chances in other lives. |

Because that’s called faith. Not everyone has it. But some people do. If you don’t have faith in anything you cannot see, that’s your right. But you don’t choose what everyone else thinks or believes in. |
83% of all U.S. adults believe people have a soul or spirit in addition to their physical body. 81% say there is something spiritual beyond the natural world, even if we cannot see it. 74% say there are some things that science cannot possibly explain. 45% say they have had a sudden feeling of connection with something from beyond this world. 38% say they have had a strong feeling that someone who has passed away was communicating with them from beyond this world. 30% say they have personally encountered a spirit or unseen spiritual force. https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2023/12/07/spirituality-among-americans/ Op, are you ever going to answer your own questions? You have never identified yourself again in this thread as even reading the replies. |
Prove it. |

What animates a living being? What is the difference between a living body and a dead body? |
Op has abandoned the thread. So odd. |
