Yes, top schools in Virginia. |
On the rankings maybe? Sure. But FCPS is one of the highest performing large districts in the state and nation. Not sure why people want to change that. |
Could it be affected by the fact that Woodson houses a CSS site on campus? They have a decently large ED program. I teach at a nearby school and have had a kid or two each year transfer there when it was clear they weren't going to graduate under a normal courseload/self contained classes. |
AAP post says TJ at 14 now so Woodson is just behind! |
14 Nationally for TJ 16th in VA for Woodson. Different scale. |
Sheesh, the anticipation of TJ's downfall to proclaim Woodson's rise must be exhausting. This very thread is calling out inconsistencies that may have led to Woodson's tumble in rank. If Woodson's ranking is called into question because anecdotally it doesn't "feel" like it should go down according to US News' method, then all other US News rankings, including TJ's, have also lost credibility. |
Not a clarification most will or need to make when talking to out of town friends and family members, “Larla is going to Woodson this year. It’s ranked 16th and that’s saying something because TJ is now 14.” |
Woodson is top twenty in Va. That’s very good. No need to worry. |
FWIW Woodson is ranked #667 in the country which is still very good but nowhere near TJ at 14. |
I'm sorry but who talks about their kid's high school ranking with out of town friends and family members? They don't care. |
Agreed. But it came up quite frequently as water cooler chat pre-COVID. Never understood why they felt the need to flaunt the test scores of other children. Getting quite ahead of themselves, at the very least wait and see which college sweater you'll be wearing into the office so we know it's a personal achievement. |
Who talks like this? The same people that are posting about rank falling when it is still a really strong school not only in VA but in US, because otherwise who cares if school is now 16. |
Except for the magnet and charter schools, all the top 20 Va. high schools have wealthy catchment areas. I don’t foresee any of these schools’ ranking tanking dramatically from one year to the next. They’re all good, largely due to demographics.
Now for the moms that like to brag about their school pyramid at the pool, moving down a few spots on the list might be a horrifying turn of events. |
I can see moms discussing this |
