Food ideas for colonoscopy prep?

Every GI doctor who does this properly has clear instructions with the time and what to do and take and what you can and cannot eat. My doctor had one restriction and that was nothing with red dye. It should be clear instructions. maybe you should find a different doctor or learn to read. Stop asking randos on DCUM.

I got the pics of my colon and it was clear. He was able to see everything with no issues.

I ate normally until the day before. Then just did the test prep all day. My appt was at 9am so not a huge sacrifice. It’s one day of not eating.

Yes, agree, I will be finding a different doctor after this. Her office has been absolutely horrible with communication, and they don’t answer the phone. However, I need to get this done, and I’ve waited months for the appointment so I’m not switching now.

OMG is this Gastro Health? I’m still waiting for my results from last fall. That place is the worst.

Lemon sorbet

I recommend the pills instead of the liquid prep, if that’s an option.

You do not need to do anything prior to the prep days. Just eat normal. Once you start the prep with dulcolax, you are on an all clear liquid diet. The medication will clear everything if you follow the instructions. It doesn’t really matter what your diet was before. It will all be cleared out if you do it properly. Trust me. You will be going to the bathroom nonstop for a few hours. You will be cleaned out. Just follow the instructions.

OMG! That’s horrible. I got pics of my colon soon after I got out of anesthesia. My doctor told me I was clear for another 5 years. Yay!

I also got a print out of prelim result w images. 4 business days later I got the biopsy result which cleared me for 8-10 years.

I took the tablets (24 in total, 12 the day before and 12 the morning of procedure). Doc gave very clear written instructions which the nurse went over w me the day of preop appt as well as a follow up call 5 days before procedure. I was supposed to stop certain Rx 5 days prior hence the office calls their patience as an additional reminder.
That gave me another chance to ask questions on the food choice. I ended up doing a lot of chicken broth and Gatorade.

I agree with others that you need to find a new GI doc. Good luck!

This is not necessarily true. I’ve had 30 colonoscopies in my life and many people need to follow more food restrictions than just liquid diet the day before to properly clean out. Usually the restrictions involve no roughage for a week or several days before the exam, but I personally need to do that for 10 days prior and be on all liquid for 48 hrs prior to the exam in order to get clean enough for a good exam.
