EA, St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Very excited but also feeling torn because he has many other great choices. He wishes he could pick more than one!

Probably a 5 on a scale of 10? But it was the best aerospace engineering program she was accepted to that we could afford. She seems to be coming around a little more each day and finding things to be excited about.

My DD attended UConn.

Was very high stats so my DD was also initially disappointed.

We are in-state plus she received Merit so it was hard to say no.

I suspect she’ll always have a tinge of regret that the admissions cycle did not go her way. But she graduated, got a very nice job offer and has no debt.

I found that the top stat students seem to have a hard time with admissions. They have the stats for all the schools - there is not a college in the US that my daughter’s stats were not in the 75 percentile for accepted students and yet she had a lot of rejections and wait lists.

That all said, she was in the honors cohort at UConn and the student body was extremely competitive. My DD was awarded Phi Beta Kappa but did not achieve Summa Cum Luade as the cut off was above 3.95 for her school.

I will say the one thing I always noticed when I was on campus was the kids looked like they were having fun.

While my DD had a number of rejections there were a couple of very selective schools that had my DD been accepted I would have been concerned about her attending do to stress and mental health. On our visits the student body just seemed incredibly stressed out.

Having gone through it and watching my DD apply for her first job my experience is that top students from UConn do very well in placement.

I think firms and hiring managers know there are alot of top students that make the decision to attend UConn based on the favorable COA and resulting ROI.

And these students are known to have strong work ethics with reasonable expectations.

I wish your DD the best of luck.

Congrats. An "average" kid is not getting into Wisconsin or Clemson. Ask me how I know.... At our highly rate FCPS HS, it takes over a 4.1W to get into those schools. A more average kid with a 3.5-3.7W GPA is getting into Towson, JMU, UMW, Hood type places. Anyway, congrats on great results. We visited UofA, nice place!

I will bite. My DS with a 1400 and 3.9W GPA from FCPS and rigorous course load got into Fordham, Lafayette, F&M, Arizona, JMU. Rejected VT and WL AU (this one was a surprise on the WL). Enrolling Lafayette.
