This is a nice problem to have.

Williams will have the weakest Math/Applied Math program. Would choose Rice or Cornell over the UCs. Both UCLA and Berkeley have classes with more than 1500 students. They're fine for grad school, but undergrads are just cogs in the machine. Much better educational experience at Rice or Cornell.

! Somebody apparently unfamiliar with Williams. Order would be Williams, Rice, Cornell, UCLA, Cal...

Business. Neither are direct admit
UGA cheaper.

DC will go visit anyways but always fun to see others opinions.

Also waiting on Michigan but very unlikely and $$$

UGA

Another vote for UGA. Athens is funky and great (not that Madison isn’t), and has better weather. And you said it’s cheaper, to boot.

Great choices to have. Go Dawgs.

Prefers small school, but needs strong disability support, which RIT has.

I believe RH is quite small. If RIT supports are significantly better than other options that could be the deciding factor. Solid schools- all three. Good luck!

Prefers: School with a strong CS reputation, huge rahrah school spirit. Moved to LA in High school(Dad's job) but originally from the DMV area and still have a home there.

UC Davis. Have yet to meet someone who was unhappy with their time in Davis. Good vibes there.

For rah rah, Ohio State. It's a giant school, but a driven and disciplined student will get a fine education.

First--any relatives on West Coast? How do you/they feel about the distance-long flights?

Rochester and W&M seem to fit the type of school environment your child seeks. Great options though! W&M a fantastic in-state option for science majors.

I vote WM for that student too. Good luck!

What kind of optionality does your kid want after college?

I actually don't have an answer for you, but would focus on which school has the most varied successful outcomes for graduates in Math/Applied Math, whether going to grad school or working for a hedge fund or whatever.

Certainly, you need to make sure your kid is happy in a fairly remote location if they go to Williams. Some people like that their 4 years are consumed by the college experience, while others like the offerings of a Houston, LA or SF/Bay Area.

Gotta visit - too many good choices (don't overlook WM, it's a strong contender)

Interests intersect nicely with both UVA and W&M. Choose your environment. Georgetown is great, but not worth the price difference.

undecided--probably social science--major, no financial aid

Duke

Penn is Wharton and a little bit of engineering. No one thinks about the social science majors. And applications to Brown declined this year. Fair or not, it has a rep for rich kids floating through their self-guided curriculums while languishing in a mediocre city. Duke is more lively and varied and is generally good at everything. Plus more school spirit and better weather.
