So many....

Hiking all over Skye in Scotland
Seeing gamelan performances and the fire dance in Bali
Making homemade jam at my host family's country home in Hungary
Traveling all over Europe with friends during college including Mykonos - we went to a restaurant and my friends ended up clubbing with the bartender and waiter afterwards
Going to a wedding in the French countryside
Visiting Amalfi and Ravello and enjoying the gorgeous villas and delicious food

Scuba diving with manta rays in Hawaii
Swimming in the bioluminescent Bay in Puerto Rico
Surfing down giant sand dunes in New Zealand
Wagon ride with young kids in Yellowstone with an amazing Park Ranger
Acadia, everything everywhere
Galapogas Islands - snorkeling, small hikes (ok walks) on the different islands
Snowmobiling on a glacier in Iceland
Hiking at Bryce and Zion National Parks
Ghost Tour (more of a history tour, but was called a ghost tour) in Asheville, NC
We try to take a local cooking class (Via Tours on Trip Advisor) in each of the countries we visit - all have been exceptional, and a nice way to learn about the area. Usually starts at the market where you purchase what you will later cook!

Hiking to see the gorillas in Rwanda. I’ve been on several safaris which were all amazing, but the gorillas are still my favorite travel experience.

Favorite activity that I personally enjoyed the most: Hiking the Na Pali coast in Kauai

Favorite thing that I enjoyed watching my kid experience: My DD meeting the princesses at Disney when she was 4 and absolutely losing her mind with glee. Call me basic but it was a blast.

Which elephant sanctuary? We're going to Chiang Mai earlier this year, and I need to start researching this.

Definitely do some research! There are a few ethical sanctuaries, but in general, anywhere that lets you ride them or do tricks is a no-no.
I went to Elephant nature park, and I've heard EJS is another good one.

Also, CM had some of the best food! Try khao soi and nam tok and CM sausage, these are unique to the northern region. YUM

Southern Thai food is infinitely better than northern Thai food. Iykyk

I was on a business trip to Buffalo, NY, and had an afternoon free. On a whim, I took an Uber to Niagara Falls and did the Maid of the Mist boat tour by myself. It was October or November. I got absolutely soaking wet and had to buy Niagara Falls cheesy clothes at a gift shop, but it was utterly exhilarating and such a fun way to break up a business trip and do something for myself, which I never do.

Opera in Vienna

Getting within a few yards of a momma lion and her cubs, and then within feet of the male lion in Tanzania

Night snorkel with manta rays, Big Island, Hawaii -- This was otherworldly.

Watching lions and cubs on safari in Tanzania
Doing a long walk in Australia where we saw almost no people and tons of kangaroos
Riding bikes in Mexico City on La Reforma

So hard to narrow it down!

Isn't that really dangerous?

NP but lol no. I did a lot of hiking in Australia with few people and lots of kangaroos… plus wallabies, koalas, a wombat, a goanna, an echidna, and lyrebirds. I did see a venomous snake on a trail but it was easy to avoid. I had the most incredible time in Australia.

What makes a travel memory stand out to me isn’t just the sights. It’s also about the friendship and love I had with my companions, the sense of adventure and physical challenge, and nostalgia for my carefree life before kids.

Gathering shells on an island off Tarpon Springs. The shells were magical to my kid, and my grandmother was alive. A great memory.

Random alligator petting place on the side of the road in Orlando. Against my better judgment let the kids hold baby gators. Was so fun.

We went with locals who were prepared to drive over the "road closed" areas all the way to the end, then we donned head lamps and carefully made our way toward the edge. The sun went down and were standing in a field of glowing lava pools. Kinda scary. As we walked anywhere, the front runner continued to feel the ground for heat so we didn't accidentally walk on a lava tube. Would never do it again but it was so cool to do once. Pictures from it were awesome. Like being inside a giant fireplace.

That’s cool! I did a helicopter tour and got great pictures because an active eruption was happening
