Oh no, not SODIUM!! And FAT!!! OMG! Good god, drink water, get some decent exercise, you'll be fine. Sodium and fat are both vital for your body and as long as you're not eating a caloric surplus and are getting a halfway decent spread of macronutrients you'll be fine. |
You’re an absolute dumbass. Excessive sodium intake is a major contributor of cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney failure, and early death. A single serving of rice or egg noodles alone can add up to almost half your DV of sodium. That’s not even counting the broth, sauces, marinated meats, etc. Noodle soups are horrific sodium bombs. |
Sodium isn’t bad for you unless it causes you to have HBP. For most normal people it is fine. |
Sorry, who's the dumbass? |
If you look at the actual sodium counts in most instant noodles, it's really not fine for most normal people. Agree that MSG is not the issue with consuming tons of these. |
I would NEVER let my kids eat that crap. Ever. Just stop buying it. Tell them it's unhealthy and explain why, move on. |
MSG is extremely unhealthy. |
Add vegetables & protein, drain the noodles, no broth, then add half of the seasoning provided. Eventually add less seasoning. |
Rice noodles, dumbass. Can you read? Go lookup the nutritional value on a pack of rice noodles. Sodium bombs. |
Huh? Rice noodles themselves are not sodium bombs |
You have never looked at the nutritional content of a pack of rice noodles used in something like Pho, have you? Sodium bombs. |
I had a phase where I wanted to eat these every day for lunch around that age. My mom was worried too and tried to get me to switch to "homemade ramen" with pasta and lower sodium chicken broth. It was fine but it didn't scratch the itch, so I still wanted the instant stuff.
I am now an adult who eats a balanced diet and has not suffered from cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney failure, and early death. It was a phase. I don't think it'll kill your DD, OP. |
NP. Just went and looked up a bunch of different brands of rice noodles, and most had 0 sodium. |
Exactly. It’s the seasoning that has the sodium |
I also recommend these, my college kid eats them in the dorm. |
