+1 Professionally most accomplished and dedicated public servant. Nobody else comes close. |
You guys arent even addressing the like history of misogyny and early pioneers like roosevelt though |
Honestly, she might have been elected president had she not had Bill’s baggage. |
I think it's quite an accomplishment that Jill Biden has continued to teach throughout the Obama and Biden administrations. |
But she never would have been nominated for president (or secretary of state, or senator) had she not gained worldwide fame for being Bill's wife. |
I can't stand her husband and son, but damn I like this. Agree. |
Hilary obviously. |
If you’re going by the Caroline Bingley school of accomplishments rules perhaps. |
Eleanor Roosevelt. No question |
HRC was partner at the biggest/most prominent law firm in Arkansas at a time when governors' wives were expected to not have their own careers. She was *partner* when the glass ceiling was a real phenomena for law firms. Michelle Obama was some kind of VP of diversity in a sinecure role at a Chicago hospital. Still not quite clear what she did to justify her 300k salary at the time. Michelle Obama is a perfectly competent woman but has none of the accomplishments of HRC and like with her husband, people try to make her more than she really is. |
And you don't think that had anything at all to do with her being the governor's wife? |
Had she not married Bill, she might have left her law firm job to run for an elected office at some point. It might have happened. ICYMI: Bill was charismatic and articulate, but she was the strategic one who helped him achieve. |
If only she had been strategic enough to spend more time campaigning in Wisconsin and Michigan. |
This was a big criticism of her back in the day- Bill was letting her shape policy and his presidency. They're a team. I'm pretty sure he's now even said as much, if she was a man she would have been in his place. |
1. Hilary Clinton
