Powerful statement by girlfriend of carjacking victim Dr. Rakesh Patel

In the 90s, before DC got safe - albeit temporarily - we used to run red lights to avoid getting carjacked.

A car can kill easily. There isn't a "safe" "non-violent" care jacking not to mention the value of cars = felony in most states.

DC is doing much worse.

They just tried to go even softer on crime, until Congress stepped in to stop the DC Councils insanity.

Parroting Tucker's talking points incessantly is not advisable. Do you know, for instance, that the *current* law does not classify the incident as a carjacking? See here: https://www.fox5dc.com/news/dc-mayor-bowser-criticized-for-comments-after-doctor-struck-killed-by-his-stolen-vehicle. This is one of umpteen reasons why the code needed to be updated. Your opposition to getting these issues fixed - thereby making it is easier for prosecutors to secure convictions - is not making DC any safer.

Cna you show in the bill where it would have classified this as a carjacking?

Sure. But it'd be even better if you found it yourself. You can do that here: https://revisedcode.org/

I don't need to defend your argument for you. You need to defend your argument.

Because many on the DC Council are decidedly pro criminal. Now shut up and pay your sky-high taxes, all that performative virtue signaling doesn't come cheap!

Her testimony also indicates the murderer is apparently not in jail? WTF?!

There have never been any arrests in the case.

Pro tip: if you see people cleaning a car with bleach don't call 311, that is for things like trash pickup. Call 911 or the local precinct, esp if the car has been on the news and you believe it was used in a homicide. Now it will take one of the suspects running his mouth one day to get any break.

The car was dumped up by Bowser's home and after cleaning it on and off with bleach they likely walked over the MD and caught the red line or grabbed a bus. Ring footage of the suspects is useless w/o an ability to identify.

If they wanted to go to Silver Spring there are plenty of places they could have parked in Silver Spring. Don’t bring Maryland into this mess. Almost all of the carjackings that have happened in Silver Spring have been by DC residents who dart back over the border because they know that MPD is not legally allowed to chase.

and vice versa, Maybe we need to change "not allowed to chase"

People need to start voting for whoever is tough on crime. Even if it means voting for a Republican.

Because don't forget: political affiliation in the District doesn't matter. It has very little bearing on the District's influence in Congress and none at all for the Presidency.

So vote for exactly what you need, people!

- left-winger who hates all this crime.

Step 1: Carjackings should carry a mandatory 20 year sentence. After a second offense, it's life in prison.

Step 2: Prosecute every single car jacking. If it's a minor, try them as adults as much as possible.

Step 3: Because it's DC, convicted carjackers would go into the Bureau of Prisons. DC should request they are sent to prisons far, far away from this region.

Yes, the above is cruel. Yes, it will disproportionately effect some groups more than others. But it will send a strong message for future carjackers and stop this nonsense.

No update and still in the loose. The video just details what Rakesh’s family, girlfriend and friends have been going through for the last two years while it seems as though nothing is being done.

MPD couldn’t even be bothered to catch the guy who carjacked a sitting Comgressmember.

Dc is a shit@ole. And nobody cares. If you have any wealth and kids get out. Next time it may be you.

Now those voters are fleeing the city they created.

Progressives now a days are just the worst (city council included). No life experience when it comes to the crime life but so terribly outspoken about it, police etc.

Yup. They created this. It’s mind boggling. People need to learn to stay in their lane. It’s okay not to be an expert on everything. Just because you went to college and read the WaPo/NYT doesn’t mean you know an iota about street life.
