We effectively did this in 2020-2021. Largely Black districts were the most affected, while, who'd have guessed, the rich white kids came through unscathed. |
Home schooling among black families increased from 3% in April 2020 to 16% that October. The survey made the distinction between official home schooling and pandemic protocoled distance learning from a usually brick and molar school.
https://capitalbnews.org/school-alternatives-black-students/ The families profiled here name disaffection with white washed curriculum and racism for their switch. |
On a related (non-racial) note: the families who fled the public school disaster for private education are generally not coming back. |
Yeah they are. They couldn't afford it before, they can't afford it now. Principles aside. |
I know a lot of families who sent their kids to a Catholic parish school. They aren't coming back. A great education at a great price. They can skip their vacations to pay for it. |
Not sure their reasons but the enrollment data indicates they're back. |
Troll |
omg troll. if I'm saying it, it's 100% |

I didn't read this thread, but the title is the most backwards-ass thing I have read here in a while.
Also, congratulations! You've done it! You solved equity! |
I guess that's white kids fault right? |
Sadly, this may not be a troll. And unfortunately, in order to get a decrease in the achievement gap, some people will go for this option. It is much easier than the other option, bring the bottom up.

Done. That pretty much describes the last 20 years of education policy. |
