Force is being used against them because they will not follow rules and laws. Pro Palestinians act so surprised when told "no". You really can't just do what ever you want. Really you can't. |
Keep digging. It’s entertaining. You know nothing of clerkships. |
You may remember that they started after the murder of George Floyd. A black man killed by police. |
Police officers began clearing University Yard at The George Washington University in Washington D.C around 3 a.m. today after multiple warnings to clear the encampment. "Protesters that refused to leave the site were taken into custody. About five police vans were filled with arrested protesters, including students, by 5 a.m. A small rally formed on G Street, with students cheering on arrested demonstrators as police barricaded the block around University Yard." Mayor of D.C. and police Chief "planned to meet with lawmakers Wednesday morning at a House Oversight hearing on the District’s response to the GW encampment."
What exactly will these lawmakers do?! |
I hope there are hot breakfasts available for their tummies. |
As classes and finals come to an end, rallies will form in other areas. |
Well, Shai Davidai posted a pic of Muslims praying on campus and the caption: This is Columbia University right now. Please share to let the world know. It seems pretty clear he's upset that Muslims have the audacity to pray on campus. Since that's the only thing they were doing in the photo. https://twitter.com/StopArabHate/status/1781477326267494798 |
So that’s confusing. The twitter link you posted takes you to a Twitter handle called Stop Arab Hate, where they have a still of a video that this guy Shai apparently posted. You can tell it was a video because of the length and volume button. But then I searched Shai’s twitter and didn’t see the video there, so I guess he took it down. |
Protesting that the local supermarket must divest itself of all support for Israel. |
Excessive use of force is ILLEGAL in this country. |
You can keep saying that but it’s wrong. I had multiple federal clerkships and certainly I was selective where I applied based on the reputation of the judge. Likewise I know something of the hiring process of judges. |
that’s idiotic. the GW protestors were there for 2 weeks. it was time for them to go. they are perfectly welcome to get a permit to protest in DC or to follow GW rules about protests. clearing the encampment was a way to keep control of the situation which is the opposite of what happened at Kent State. |
that’s right. and then the George Floyd protests were coopted by the exact same element claiming that ridiculous slogans and extreme, disruptive and violent tactics were justified. we didn’t forget all those months where daring to say “actually riots are bad” could literally get you fired. |
DP. I’m honestly not sure how it works today with more highly politicized judges. Back when I clerked (from Columbia actually, but only at the beginning of FedSoc) you’re right that nobody batted an eye at applying to any judge even so-called conservatives. The high profile conservatives like Scalia and Pryor almost certainly attracted and could select from the conservative students but almost certainly there were less conservative students applying to them. We certainly didn’t hold anything against our classmates who got Scalia clerkships. I myself clerked for a very moderate republican. But things do seem much more politicized today so I’m not sure. For example does Justice Barrett get progressive clerks? |
