Is the future of higher ed in the South?

So hang out with vapid people who decide to attend a school because of the weather not the quality of the education and you will get a self indulgent adult back. Have your kid attend a school where academics and scholarly achievement are celebrated more than the football team that graduates half their kids and you well get back a critical thinking adult. What's important to learn in college is critical thinking and social norms. Getting wasted everyday in the sun is not necessarily the goal after all it doesn't look good after 25!

But getting wasted in a dark frat house while it's snowing out or inside a bar, or watching a mediocre team is better?

The only reason anti semitism isn’t “baked in” in the south though is because there aren’t nearly as many Jewish people in the south, not because southerners aren’t as anti semitic.

Ha ha. Nope. Lots of Jews in the South, especially in cities. But the teaching at the Southern schools isn't as centered on decolonialist antifa psychosis as it is in the NE, CA. I'm an academic and I am very aware of where they are inculcating Franz Fanon & the like. Anti-semites are everywhere, but the academy is far more rational in the South.

Other than south florida, where are these mythical southern Jewish people living? I grew up in a major city in the Deep South and had extended family I visited regularly in 2 other major southern cities. I didn’t meet a single Jewish person until I went to college in Chicago.

Houston, Dallas, Miami, NOLA. I went to school with lots of Jewish kids in Houston.

Normal kids aren’t looking for violence on their college campuses. Plain and simple.

Except now it's happening in Texas

Different poster. Texas handled it swiftly. The southern schools seem protect the rights of kids to get an education and they have boundaries and consequences.

Same with Vanderbilt. And seeing how USC just cancelled their graduation because of the protestors it makes the southern schools seem even more appealing.

Really? Let’s look at some stats.

Jewish people make up 16% of the population in NYC
17% of Los Angeles population is Jewish
Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, DC, Philadelphia all about 6% Jewish

Now let’s look at some southern cities:
Yes Miami has a lot of Jewish people (15% of the population) but after that not many Jewish folks in the south
Outside of south Florida, Atlanta & Houston have the biggest percentages of Jewish people in the south w 2% of the population of metro Atlanta and metro Houston identifying as Jewish
In Charlotte, NC 1% Jewish
Nashville jewish people make up .8% of the population

So outside of south Florida, no there are not a lot of Jewish people in the south compared to the north.

Yes, but 100% percent of our Jewish students are welcome and can live here in safety.

A survey? Okay. Look around. Exactly zero Southern colleges are being forced to close to stop an angry mob from attacking our Jewish students.

One word: Climate Change. Southern Universities will not just drop in enrollment, they will literally shut down. Tornado Alley is also moving southeast directly on top MS TN, AL.

Yes.... Jewish people, please come to the south. We are the fastest growing region, both economically and by population. It's warm, it's relaxed, and you will be welcome and safe here. The ethnic violence against Jewish students at colleges is traumatic and harmful, and they should not have to experience it. And if this is being tolerated on campuses, how long til it spreads? If you are on the fence, just do it-- come to safety. You'll be able to live in a nicer house with a pool and more leisure time for golf. You'll even grow to like country music, it happens to all of us.

That’s two words.

Is your meteorology better than your math?

Virtual school math. Also, even the most aggressive climate models show just a 2 degree change after 100 years. So, your kids will make it through college in that time, once they learn real math.

Pp said “other than florida” and you lead w Florida 😆 Atlanta has a somewhat sizeablr Jewish population but Jews still make up only about 2% of the population of Atlanta. Austin’s Jewish population is 1.3% of the total population of Austin. Not big numbers of Jews in the South with the exception of south florida, as previously stated.

Besides Miami all of those cities you listed have only 1-2% of the population that is Jewish.

I have found the increased interest in Southern schools fascinating. I think most of these kids who go to UF, UGA or Auburn would have gone to regional schools like Roger Williams or HWS. The top schools like Williams and Amherst will always be attractive, but smaller schools be impacted.
