Lucky you. No raise here so I'm taking a pay cut. Grow up and stop whining. If you don't like SS and Medicare and think old people should starve to death or drop dead from curable diseases then vote for candidates who feel that way too.

Raise? What is this thing called, "raise"?

Complaining about a tiny raise and in the same sentence stating you don't give a damn about SS. Seemingly two conflicting stances-- if your raise is so tiny and your complaining about money it would seem SS would be useful down the road.

And it isn't even a real increase in taxes. It is a return to the old rates.

Social Security keeps 40% of seniors out of poverty. It's not all about you.

People llke you are the reason our country is in trouble. You care more about a consumer electronic device today, than financial security tomorrow.

And in so doing, has two important effects on the younger generation:

1. It alleviates the financial burden individual families would experience if their parents had to rely more on them for support.

2. It pulls seniors out of the labor force and thus opens jobs to younger workers. (The employment effect was was actually one of FDR's main reasons for creating the program during the Depression.)

So it is a ponzi scheme, don't blame me for the idiot generations inability to manage their own money

I was looking forward to a raise, but all raises were put on hold. Count your blessings, and resolve for 2013 to stop whining about what you don't have. Be thankful for what you do.

You probably spend more than this 2% increase that will be taken out of your paycheck on a bi-weekly basis on pizza every month. C'mon man, have some social responsibility for a change.

This older generation took care of you when you were a kid and they were paying taxes for your education. Everybody pulls their own weight and a little extra to lift up those around them.

I kind of wish they'd never done the payroll tax holiday. Much like the Bush tax cuts, people begin to feel entitled to them even though they were only temporary measures in the first place. And I say this as someone living paycheck to paycheck.

Social responsibility? Sounds like a forced ponzi scheme to me! You would not tolerate this in the private sector; matter of fact, it would be a prosecutable offense. Why is it tolerable when the government does it?

And I don't remember signing any sort of a social contract. I do remember donating charitably on my own free will.
