How can I get this hair color?

How about asking for "brown" ? That should do it.

brown is tricky. i just got my roots covered and it turned out way too dark, which can age a person if you are over 25. you may need high and lowlights to achieve this color. good luck.

Just bring the picture with you.

Um, save the image to Dropbox and then pull it up to show the stylist. Sheesh... old people.

On your smartphone, I guess I have to add.

I am brunette and in my youth I got natural blonde highlights just like that. Many brunettes have reddish undertones mine were golden.

What sucks is at 42 I have started getting some grey at my part. To cover it my salon does a Demi-permanent rinse to match my roots. The problem with color is that as it fades it takes on a reddish tint. I had a hairdresser in my late 20s when I highlited that to,d me my hair "pulled red". She always used "ash tones" when highlighting to counteract this and could hit it perfectly.

There may be a lot of trial and error, but a good hair colorist will be able to ready our hair. We definitely has blonde/carmelish highlights.

That pic makes me want to go back to that instead of the all-over color I've had for the past year or so. However, it is a lot more maintenance--ESP tp prevent a brassy look.

Well, you could either show her the picture on your smartphone. Or you could email the pic to your stylist from your home computer.

Your condescension is really not necessary. Sheesh, young people!

I accidentally got good highlights like that. When my stylist gave me too-light highlights, I tried to cover them up with a store-bought permanent color that was close to my natural color. The permanent color tempered the highlights perfectly, giving me a rich color with subtle highlights. This could easily be done at a salon.

I am new to coloring, but brunette friend that started going grey in her 20s does just what you suggest. She gets highlights once or twice a year while using the Demi-permanent in between...the highlighted parts don't get as dark so it looks like natural highlights.

Print it out at work or Kinko's and take it into the salon. Also, I think you're better off finding a very chic, stylish type salon and going a good colorist there who is used to requests like this.
