Would this allergy warning make you uncomfortable?

I have a peanut/treenut-allergic kid. My BIL sent an Edible Arrangements today, with mostly plain fruit and some chocolate-covered strawberries.

I looked at the EA website and it said this:

Nuts
Some of our arrangements and boxes of dipped fruit have crushed or sliced almonds, so there are nut products in our preparation areas. We cannot guarantee that a gift will not have come in contact with nuts or nut oil. We also have several arrangements and boxes that are dipped in peanut butter chocolate. We recommend that you take the necessary precautions based on any related allergies.

I'm not going to give him the strawberries, but do you think we should avoid giving him any of the fruit?

My Dh has a peanut allergy and he would not risk it. Cross contamination happens so easily.

I would not risk it.

If you like your kid don't risk it. If not you're free to try. We can't answer this FOR you. We also have no idea how allergic your kid is. My family member has a slight allergy to nuts. They will get a tickle on their tongue. Dr has said it's fine to consume but get help if they ever have trouble breathing. It's been like this for 25 years. If your kid has a severe allergy just don't chance it if you're at all uncomfortable (you are or you wouldn't be here asking) don't attempt it. If you know the allergy is slight or whatnot then throw caution to the wind. EP219

You can figure this one out on your own.

Right I wouldn't risk it. But it does depend on how severe your kid's reaction is.

This doesn't seem like the type of thing I'd trial and error on. EA is telling you there is a high chance of cross contamination.

Doesn’t it clearly say so?

I wouldn’t risk it.

I would avoid entirely. -Peanut and tree nut allergy mom

Depends on the severity of the allergy, but if you’re a parent who carries an epi-pen I wouldn’t even consider it.

My kid also has peanut/tree nut plus gluten allergy. I would give him the plain fruits.

Why was this 12 year old thread resurrected?

Can the OP from 12 years ago please respond if her child has survived the edible arrangement?

No allergies. It why risk it? I wouldn’t. It’s just not worth it.

You cannot give anything that's been cross-contaminated. So, if they even process nuts in their facility, it's a no.
