12 week old and flatulence

Anonymous
I have a nearly 13 week old LO and since her birth (via c-section), I have had the worst gas ever. Yes, ME...not the baby, although she can have her gassy days too.

It's smelly and gross. My diet has not changed at all from before my pregnancy/while I was pregnant to now. I don't remember this happening with my first child. Is this coincidence or typical? Anyone else experience being extra gassy, no matter what they ate, after having a child? Thanks!

I don't mean to laugh, but I had the same experience. My husband wanted to make me sleep outside some nights!

I remember taking a lot of Gas-X just because it was painful getting my guts going again after my c-section. Were you on a lot of antibiotics? Maybe some probiotics are in order?

Nothing postpartum beat my pregnancy farts! Whew!

Reviving this ok'd thread to see if anyone else experiences major postpartum flatulence. I'm 17 weeks pp (emergency C) and all I do all day is pass gas. It's hideous.

I feel unattractive enough with my boobs hanging down to my waist (my ample bosom's shape is entirely changed now) but the constant farting is really just doing a job on my self esteem, plus stinking up every room I'm in. The only change to my diet is that I'm drinking a homemade oatmeal smoothie (with banana and strawberries) every morning to help with milk production. Could adding morning fruit really make me fart every couple of minutes for the next 20 hours?

Had anyone else experienced excessive postpartum flatulence and, if so, did you treat it? Did it go away?

I had it too and was worried what would happen when I had to go back to work. Luckily it stopped (without treatment) and I was alone with the baby most of the time anyway. The dog would leave the room though.

For me this was caused by dairy. Once I cut it out, I felt much better. I'm trying to reintroduce it now but am bloated ang gassy and gross so it may have to wait.

Same here. 2.5 months post c-section and frantically googling about gas problem. So tired of it already. No one seems to have any answers..

I had it too. Not sure when it stopped, but I'm five months pp and it's been gone awhile now.

I also had issues with passing gas involuntarily...that was scary, but that stopped too.

Happened to me, too. Your digestive system may be out of whack if you got a lot of antibiotics for the c section (most women do).

Take a good probiotic once a day and limit dairy, though eat yogurt once a day too.

Also warm tea or warm water can soothe gas.
