Dresses with leggings and flats

Anonymous
Is this look still cute and current? I'm trying to turn things around in the fashion department and I could use some pointers. Thanks!!

Personally, I think it is cute on kids and teens. I have always felt goofy and juvenile wearing leggings (under dresses and tunics) and flats. Maybe b/c it breaks the leg line?

I think it's fine with tunics, but not sure about dresses for some reason. I wear more with boots though.

Base that on nothing.

Sure! My 3 year old wears this outfit all that time.

Oh, wait - you mean on grown women?

OP here. Haha, okay, say no more. I guess tights is better for this purpose? I knew I needed some help!

Tunic is just another name for "dress".

My 8 yr old years this look. I do not. Yes, I see it advertised but I rarely see grown women wear this look.

I never thought it was cute on adult women.

I consider a 'tunic' to be a long top or long sweater that covers the behind, which is certainly different than a dress. I do see women with tunic tops over leggings with flats. Personally, with the colder weather, I think boots are more appropriate.

I agree- tunic is longer in length than most regular shirts but not as long as a dress. I like tunics with leggings but dresses not so much. Yes, wear the dress with black tights/opaque stockings and boots or heels.

You can wear the leggings with oversized button- downs and flats. In the Winter, wear them with longer sweaters and boots.

No dress with leggings. Tunics are much better but they need to cover your backside. The key will be to wear a heel for the proportion to be right - preferably with a shootie or bootie to keep it age-appropriate.

If you've got fantastic legs tunics with tights and flats looks great! If you don't...then wear boots.

It might help for people to advise you - if you described yourself (age, body type, etc.)

For example, I'm 40 - curvey, dark hair, and very tall. What I should wear is very different then....a 25 year old short, blonde, thin person.

Height and weight and possibly age may have something to do with it, but I'm not quite sure hair color does.
