Why does Biden keep pushing free handouts for college?

That is truly horrible optics.

Aren't there millions of legitimately still poor Americans -- largely minorities and poor white people -- with delinquent federal loans who never finished college? Discharge those.

Because they did 10 years of public service at a non-profit or government employer. Which is exactly according to the terms of student loan law signed by President GW Bush and passed on bipartisan basis in Congress.

Do you want Biden to disregard the law that covers public service loan forgivenss?

Well, that’s just not true.

The Education Department will automatically erase loans for 317,000 people who attended any Art Institute campus between Jan. 1, 2004 and Oct. 16, 2017.

So the later group couldn’t possibly have done 10 years of public service anywhere. Biden is simply wiping their slate clean, at the expense of everyone else.

Exactly. Shame on them.

Arts Institutes was a fraudulent for-profit university that literally made up and advertised fake data about the success of its graduates to lure in more students and keep the student loan mill churning.

Then sue the Arts Institutes for restitution. This administration is handing out free money hand over fist and it’s the TAXPAYERS who are footing the bill. Insane.

I like Biden, don't get me wrong. I think his heart is in the right place. But forgiving student loans from a fraudulent art institute instead of suing the institute for fraud?

I mean, the Biden Administration is suing Sheetz because they won't hire convicted felons. What could go wrong, having convicted felons manning 24-hour gasoline and convenience stores in rural areas. Those felons will be setting up skimming stations and eyeing the women who arrive alone. They'll be stealing the gasoline and replacing it with water once the mob gets involved. Sheetz are all over our area - VA, MD, PA, DE, WV. We the customers will be directly and adversely affected.

Do I have it right - instead of going after the corporations and individuals (ahem, hello Trump) churning out graduates from the fraudulent schools, they're forgiving the loans? Once again, we the people are left holding the bag.

Good for Biden for doing this. I'd rather the federal giveaways for young people struggling to make their future than the people Trump helped--billionaire right winger tax evaders and slumlords.

The DOJ sued one big scam university for $67 million. There are probably more.

I’m glad that my tax dollars are used to pay off the loans of privileged students at Ivy League schools who cosplay as Palestinian refugees.

Another political loser in an election year that’s highly inflationary. Paying peoples loans frees up more printed dollars sloshing around to buy the scarce produce.

Funny but incorrect. The loan relief went to older Americans who made 250 payments on time. Or it went to the people who got suckered into thinking Trump University was a legit school.

The bulk of inflation came from companies raising prices during the pandemic to gouge us. Now consumers are angry and not buying so companies are beginning to drop those price hikes.

If I have to be the one on the hook to pay off these student loans for some kid,

- can I get a photo of the kid, or maybe a handwritten letter or something??

Anonymous wrote:Just stop it with student loans. Pay what you owe and agrees to payback like an adult. Yet again Biden is trying to give free handouts. And what does it do to solve the actual problem? Absolutely nothing. He gives a handout now and what happens 5 years from now when a new crop of students have debt? Yet another free handout will be expected because nothing has been done to address actual costsl. What a pathetic attempt at trying to buy votes with taxpayer money.

In other parts of the world higher education is free. I was a low income child and first in my family to go to college and then grad school. I now do quite well and contribute fully to the economy through purchasing power and high taxes. The system worked. Instead of being a strain on the system for my lifetime, I am now contributing to it. And can pay it forward for the next person who needs that boost. THAT is how college should work. That is how our economic system should work.

Erase what? Debt doesn't get erased. The loans have already been spent?
