SF: Golden Gate Park/ California Academy of Sciences, Exploratorium, Cable Cars, Chinatown, North Beach, City Lights Books, Mission Dolores, Lombard St (walk down), Crissy Field and Fort Point, Embarcadero, lunch at Ferry Building, sea lions at Pier 39. There are some really good playgrounds near Mission Dolores.

East Bay: UC Berkeley Campus/ Telegraph Ave., amazing bookstores.

Monterey/Pacific Grove - Aquarium, beautiful chilly beaches, John Steinbeck sites.
