Not dead is a fairly low bar. Is that the new standard? |
Attempted murder. -Lawyer |
Is that even a separate offense in DC? Not a lawyer, but my brief read of an MPD training manual is that you can charge "attempt of" for any felony, but the generic penalty for that crime is less than the specific offense of "assault with intent to kill," which carries up to 15 years. I don't think there is a separately identified "attempted murder" statute. |
MPD is bringing charges now? What's next? Will they also be prosecuting the cases? |
Lol. No. -- Lawyer |
Yes they do stop lying. |
Because OP put "restorative justice" in her post I do not believe her.
Or she's just a dumbass. |
DP. The criminal offense in DC is “Assault with intent to kill”. |
What club was this? |
From the police press release:
"Mantock was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm." https://mpdc.dc.gov/release/mpd-quickly-arrests-man-connecticut-avenue-shooting So DC has really strict gun laws - but their enforcement is useless. This guy had an unregistered illegal gun, shot 6 bystanders because he allegedly got into an argument. And what? OP, would your friend be willing to contact WaPo or allow you to contact them on her behalf? To have visitors to the city be shot in Dupont - this is big news and should be broadcast far and wide. |
What on earth are you babbling about? Maybe you should consider concepts like “attempt” and “reckless”? Signed - a federal prosecutor. |
Off topic but is this the same Decades club from 25 years ago? I used to go there. I can’t believe it’s still open if it’s the same club. FWIW I never felt unsafe there. |
The crowd at Decades and a few other Dupont area clubs has changed a bit in recent years. Crime in the immediate vicinity, even before this tragedy, has also risen. |
Who the heck goes into DC these days? |
