I’ve heard this too. I don’t know why people think this is crazy. It’s fairly well established that reheated pasta lowers its GI. However, how it impacts your personal blood sugar is a different question and should be explored individually. |
Wow |
A ridiculous one! Op, a quick protein and more veg. Cottage cheese and fruit. |
My diabetic nurse disagrees with you, but carry on. |
Your nurse needs to keep up with the research. I'd frankly be appalled that your diabetic nurse isn't aware of this. In the last couple of years, research has confirmed that resistant starches - including cooled rice and pasta - aid in glycemic control https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/08/well/eat/resistant-starch-pasta-rice-leftovers.html https://hopkinsdiabetesinfo.org/what-is-resistant-starch/ |
Reheated pasta, some science-y non ChatGPT information.

Interesting! Lasagne is basically re-heated food (and chilled and reheated again and again). I'm going to start my process earlier and cook the noodles and chill them for the next day assembly. Also alternate with zucchini. |
OP didn't say if she was type 1 or type 2. |
There are literally hundreds of thousands of websites dedicated to low carb, low sugar, low FMOP, keto. I can't believe you are having trouble. |
Exactly. You can eat whatever you want if you cover it with insulin, but it better outcomes if you make reasonable food choices when it comes to the quality of carbs. Can you have a coke if you have T1D? Yes, but you shouldn't. |
Probably just stuck in a rut of giving the same advice over the years. It doesn’t mean that an individual patient can chow down on reheated pasta. It does mean that the science is there and can at least be discussed. |
Good luck! You can reverse diabetes and it will lower risk of NAFLD, some cancers and even Alzheimer's when you do. Intermittent fasting is another powerful tool, check out vids by Dr. Jason Fung or his book https://www.amazon.com/Diabetes-Code-Prevent-...rally/dp/1771642653/ the library has it. Fasting not only helps health, it's a great option when there are not the best food choices.
You are referring to Type 2 when you say you can reverse. Cannot reverse Type 1. People need to make it clear. |
