Ymmv, but even though I WFH, our school is a 15 minute drive if traffic cooperates, and our doctor’s office is another 30 minutes from the school. That’s 90 minutes of driving, assuming traffic cooperates, plus the time at the doctor, let’s say an hour. I’m not doing this just so they can spend a couple hours at school.

So everyone your kid has any appointment, they miss the entries day?? Nuts.

NP and my kids rarely ever have mid day appointments. The hardest were when they had braces but we were usually able to schedule first thing before school or at the end of the day after school. I don’t work from home and I do whatever is most convenient for my work schedule. It’s usually not possible for me to leave work in time to pick them up at school, 30 min from work, get to the appointment and then drop them back off at school if it’s mid day. FYI I’m also a teacher. My kids would stay home for the day.

Better ways to learn han sitting in a car all day. Your child can't learn at home?? Nuts.

I don’t get what you’re saying at all, sorry.

My child is in an ES with the same hours and she goes in the morning, I pick her up for her appointment, and then she goes back for the afternoon. Since it's lunchtime, you can get your child a fast food lunch as a treat.

I’d give my kid the day off if he requested but he’s not the type to ask to miss school.

I would drop off my kid before and after. An appointment for our kids is just an hour out of school.

I pick up and drop back off at school if at all feasible. I also try to schedule routine appointments on any of the multitude of random days off or half days and for emergent care 8 try for the earliest in the day.

Sometimes kids have a test they don't want to miss. Or at least mine rather not miss a test.

This is what I miss most about VA to DCPS - the half days DC doesn’t have
