Couple of things. Who gets yearly xrays at the dentist? You don't need them every year and two why not use the apron? It would be stupid not to. Of course I will use it. |
What dentist? They seem like they know what they're doing! |
Dentist want to take as many xrays as they can it's all about the money. It costs them nothing yet they make money on em'. |
Oh wait until you find out what a light bulb is. |
X-ray nuts also tend to me GMO, MSG, “chemicals” nuts |
An exam/consultation costs them nothing yet they make money on those too. I don’t see your point. |
Complete BS. Insurance companies pay for 4 bitewings and 2 periapical xrays annually and a panoromic every 3-5 years...the dentist writes off/does not charge for the extra ones so the notion that its done for money is completely false, its done to double check everything and what do you say when its missed??? its the dentists fault?? check your fact please -signed someone who knows more than you. |
I think these would be great for anxious flyers - like me! |
Man, it never occurred to me to decline them - which is a shame because I have a (fairly common!) bone growth on the top of my mouth and they are frequently so painful that I cry. I’ve never had a technician be nice about it, they all think I’m being a baby, but it hurts so much.
Maybe I’ll start declining them because I’m “afraid of the space rays!” |
Radiation is everywhere. |
What am i going to say? I'm not going to say anything. If they bring it and drape it over me, fine. If they don't, fine. |
Name your dentist please, none of mine have ever written off anything. As if. |
A few years ago, when I was poised to get a set of X-rays for a crown, I asked my dentist if I should be worried that it was too much radiation. She said that with digital X-rays the radiation was much less of a concern, and that they continued to use the lead aprons only because it made people feel safe. She also said I was showing my age; none of her younger patients ever ask about radiation. 😀 |
But what’s the downside of using them…. |
They are also expensive, a money maker for dentists and often unnecessary. I never have cavities. When they push the xrays i always say "I thought we just did that x months ago" and invariably they had. Always ask. And you don't know how old their machine is. I do ask for an apron |
