Most of the people on HGTV shows seem to be absolute pills with personality disorders who nit-pick and complain about every house they see, argue between the couple, and whine if the house has a fireplace because they dont want one. Those shows made me realize how many people are miserable in this world.

Contrast that to MLDH where the people seem so happy and grateful to be buying a $150,000 home. And honestly, every single person I've seen on that show has seemed to be shockingly lovely- theyre always doing stuff like inviting David to dinner and stuff. Strangely nice people. It's actually confirmed my belief in karma because I swear I have never seen such sweethearts on any HGTV show or reality show period, and theyre such a contrast to the malcontent nightmares that make up most episodes of House Hunters

Babe, we all know that. I'm talking about scenes where they specifically invite David to dinner after filming, NOT the awkward "drinking a water in the coffee shop" scenes. Duh!

I wonder if that ever actually happens. Or does he hightail it out of there as soon as his contractual obligation is completed?

My guess is he hightails it out of it. I dont think he's a horrible guy, or that he doesnt like them. But i mean- he's like this 6'3 fabulous Miami gay who's used to partying at the Fountainbleu. I'm sure he doesnt want to have a roast beef dinner with mountain dew in the middle of Kansas no matter how much he may like them. But I do think it's genuinely good vibes and a happy connection and if he were back in the same area he might swing by or something

David is from the midwest (Minnesota, I think). I thinks that's why he relates so well to the people on the show. My he does follow up with them!

Same. I absolutely love the show because it is about normal people buying normal homes. I really like David. I am not a fan of his tats but it is his body so his choice. I love David's personality, and how enthusiastic he is about his job.

Most of all I love how kind David is to all of the people because he has had some seriously odd people who were lottery winners. With even the weirdest and cringiest lotter winners he was still kind and engaging with no snark and with no patronization. If you can't respect that then there really is nothing more to talk about.

If I'm not mistaken, years ago I think the first season or two of the show did have bigger lottery winners and more expensive home purchases.

The first thing big lottery winners are advised to do is get a lawyer, and I'm sure the first advice a lawyer will give is keep your win as anonymous as possible. This, big winners probably won't be on a TV show.

I absolutely agree. I think he has such a nice personality and people can’t help but love him. Even some people who I doubt have had much experience with very flamboyant men seem to take to him. He had a show years ago that I really liked.

How can you not like David? He seems so genuinely nice and gets excited for whatever house they are looking for, I want to be his friend in real life. DH and I always look at his neck tattoos to try and see if it’s a new or older season.

I was just watching this yesterday while folding clothes. Yes, David does seem like a nice guy. He seems to like everybody and be happy for them.

I'm actually impressed at the good decision skills of some of the buyers-they seem not go overboard, but spend in a way that will leave plenty of money to live on. Not going hog wild.

DAvid actually had his own design show early on TCL. I loved his shows. Then it seemed like he went away for a while and when they brought him back - tattoos.
They don't bother me and I think his personality is perfect for TV. I wish they'd give him something better.

I think his show is on HGTV. The host won HGTV Design Star a decade ago. He is a talented designer, but I think this show is stupid and doesn’t use his talents. No before or after, just a what-you-get for the money in town X. He is basically used as a realtor.

Yes, I think he's an authentically caring person who makes genuine connections with many of the lottery winners.

I like David - not his tattoos though. I know he has different taste than they do, but he seems sincerely happy for them.

It's nice to see that when these people have all this money and could possibly live anywhere, they choose to be around family and friends.

That's exactly how I feel. I feel like this is the opposite of House Hunters where people want to spend $200k and think they are going to get a mansion. Here, people are spending a modest amount and they seem so grateful and humble.

Sometimes I don't understand the finances - we saw one where a guy won $5 million and only wanted to spend $150k on his house. And it's like, I agree, save more, be frugal - but maybe not that frugal? I'd love some more insight into how folks decide their house budget.

I love David. He's so cheerful with the tiniest bit of snark. Sometimes he's a little too handsy but that's my only issue. I don't mind his tattoos, and I love his clothes.

I just find this show very wholesome and sweet, and it's among my favorite house buying shows.
