Could anyone tell me approximately how long a game beginning at 7pm would last? Considering getting tickets for the first time, and going to watch with our two young kids. Thanks! |
About 3 hours, but it can vary. We usually go for 5 innings. |
last night was an unusually long game, but we live in Arlington (so a close distance to the stadium) and my husband got home after mid-night. But, you would probably see about three hours as a normal game. |
Turn to the Sports page in the Post and look at the box scores for baseball games played the night before. They list the duration of the game. |
Huge variation. 3-5 hours. But you can leave anytime really. |
Baseball nerd here: average length for any MLB game in the 2010 season was 2hrs and 50 minutes, meaning many games are shorter than that. It is VERY atypical for a game to be four hours, let alone five, as PP suggested (the Reds and Phillies took 6 hours to play 19 innings last season).
Depending on the age of your kids, I would just plan to leave after X amount of time and see what you can. We lasted 6 innings (right about 2 hours) with a one-year-old, so you might be able to stay for the whole thing if your kids are a little older. Plan to walk around some, leave your seats to go get food, bathroom break, etc. Have fun! |
OP here, thanks so much for all the helpful responses! |
If the game is tied it could go on for hour. Of there is a dynamite pitcher then he might pitch a perfect game and of is over on a couple of hours. If you stay for all nine innings, then four to |
It's baseball so the game goes on until you pass out from too many beers. |
This, especially the last part. |
five hours, not including leaving, which can be major traffic jam. |
I'd suggest just going to an Orioles game, especially if you live in suburban MD. better stadium, and much easier to get in-and-out because you are right off 95. You might actually get home earlier than if you had gone to a Nats game. |
We have never had traffic problems leaving a Nats game, including sold out games like the recent Yankee series. We park in one of the stadium lots and get right on the SW Freeway and head home. If there were traffic I suppose we could cut over to South Carolina Ave and then over to Independence Ave. Usually we are home (to suburban MD) in 20 minutes. |
Orioles >>> Nats |
