s/o reclined seats on airplanes

All of you who recline your seats waaay back during a flight, please stop. You are being inconsiderate of your fellow passengers. Thank you very much.

You are moral degenerates.

Ugh, I hate it. I had the guy in front put his seat all the way back. I leaned mine back just to get some room and the lady behind me promplty told me to move my seat back up because she had no room. I was stranded!!!

Until that other thread, I had no idea that it was impolite to recline one's seat all the way back. I'm not very tall, so it has never bothered me when others do it, even if I am using my tray table. I always thought I was being polite to be careful to recline slowly so I wouldn't disturb someone's drink! When one of the other posters mentioned that the airline seats were made to recline back when fewer seats were crammed into the planes, it made sense that the etiquette on this would change also.

Sorry, tall people! I won't do it anymore!

But it's okay to recline about halfway, right?

9:55 here again. The other change that's happened, though, is that people have gotten bigger even as the space between rows has gotten shorter. I guess I have more sympathy for tall people whose knees get crammed than those with big bellies rubbing up against their tray tables. Nonetheless, I will keep my seat upright.

i will continue to recline without guilt on every flight.

If you want more room, FLY ECONOMY PLUS, BUSINESS OR FIRST CLASS!

Thank you.

No, you were spineless. I would've told the lady behind me to eff off.

I agree. I didn't know about this "rule" no one has ever mentioned it to me EVER. I am a very frequent business traveler. None of my colleagues have ever complained about it and we bitch about traveling related issues and annoyances a lot and this has never come up.

This is a crime of moral turpitude. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a web page started with photos of recliners, sort of like the bad drivers website or men who are undateable.

Do seats still recline these days?

Perhaps you should follow your own advice. That's what you're trying to do when you recline, right--get more space for yourself at the expense of the person behind you?

No, sorry. Reclining the seat back is not poor etiquette.

Checking to make sure you're not going to smash someone, or spill a drink or whatever is find and polite and dandy, but this is not a big deal.

Plane travel sucks.

I will continue to recline all the way in the reclining seat I purchased for the flight.
