Good stuff here. Almost a nascent data guy. |
Crush or Pride should consider losing their final game to guarantee a matchup with Stars in the battle of the 6-2s. The other options, M&D Black or Sky Walkers, are worse. |
Pride will have the benefit of playing the last game with playoff implications at 12:00PM Sunday. They will know exactly what needs to be done to get the best first round draw. |
None of these teams are going to lose a game on purpose so they can play what is perceived to be an easier first round opponent. |
Stars had played them three times this year and has beaten them every time |
Then I guess M&D Red is due for a win then…..even the Nationals will win a game in a four game series. |
Totally. No sports team has ever tank to gain an advantage. |
Alas, it was I. |
I can’t believe how informative this forum is at times. |
I thought I recognized some DG! |
I am not sure why they stopped doing the two divisions. It seems like that would have eliminated some of the strength of schedule variance and leveled things out a bit. Each team plays everyone in their division, and top 4 from each go to playoffs. The same 8 teams would have likely made the playoffs but the seatings different.
1. Heroes 1. Coppermine 2. Crush. 2. M&D 3. Pride. 3. Skywalkers 4. MDU. 4. STARS 5. FCA 5. 3D 6. M&D Red 6. CC lax 7. MDU west 7. M&D west 8. MC Elite. 8. NEMS |
Agreed. This makes far more sense. |
if it’s the same eight teams either way, why does it matter? |
|
No, it's not. MDU isn't making the playoffs this year but "could" in the above format. In the current format, the scheduling makes far more impact where some teams play easier and some play harder. Pride is finishing 7-1 but only played 1 "top" team and lost. A PP pointed out that Coppermine/Hero's/Crush could wind up with the 4th seed. Neither of those 3 teams are a 4 seed. Right now those are the 3 best teams and could all finish 7-1. |
