1) Why would anyone wash their hands then? I guess if you use toliet paper no need! They should just take down those signs in bathrooms requiring employees to wash hands and just put up a notice to use paper to wipe.

2) your talons hang over the edges of your fingers and likely do come into direct contract with fecal bacteria

See that's where you make another mistake. I like my nails. My DH likes my nails. I've had them for the better part of 30 years. They were ALWAYS relevant to me. It matters not one iota what you think of them. Zero.

The difference between you and me is that I couldn't care less what you wear. It's your body and you can do with it what you like. It speaks volumes about your character that something as innocuous as my nails is bothering you SOOOO much.

You can't win this argument if you are talking about hygiene. Facts are against you on that one. The appearance part is a different thing and simply a matter of preference. If they were not so dirty, many of us wouldn't care about nails one bit. It would be no different than the style of your shirt etc.

Are you unfamiliar with Google? Try searching "artificial nails and pathogens" or "acrylic nails or germs" or however you want to approach it. There are multiple studies linking artificial nails to higher amounts of pathogens. Just one example, since you seem unable to do a basic search yourself. Your nails are dirty. Go ahead and wear them, but stop trying to argue with those of us who are pointing out that they are gross.

I love the look of acrylic nails and I get that they are very trendy right now among young women. They are, however, expensive to upkeep and can be very damaging and gross if not properly maintained and cared for.

If your teen has a job and their own money and that’s what they want to spend it on I say have at it. For a tween, I’d get home manicure gear and maybe press ons but I wouldn’t be paying for and taking them to nail salon appts every 2 weeks
