Do you do playdates with families where the parents get along better or the kids?

We recently moved to VA from OOS. We've made quite a number of friends but our kids' ages vary or the daughters don't play well with our sons. I have also gone to a few mom's club and meetups where my kids have a blast but I have absolutely nothing in common with the other moms.

Depends on the age of the kids. With kids 3 and under when the "playdate" is partially for me too, then I tend to schedule activities with kids whose parent's company I enjoy.

As they get older, it's a little of both... of course it's great when kids and parents get along. But, we don't just do things with the families the kids choose or DH and I choose-- it's a combination.

When visiting friends includes the family- everyone knows they are to act respectfully even if the kids/adults aren't our first choice - kids put up with my friends and their kids and I put up with their friends and their parents.

I agree with PP, as they get older it's more for them. They're choosing who they want to play with. I'm always happier when I like the parents too, but you gotta do what you gotta do. If you don't like the parents ask them to drop off the child. Or go some place where you don't have to chat a lot with the parents like a puppet show.
