Does anyone have recommendations for a behavioral psychologists in Northern VA and which insurance plan they accept. For the moment I have Aetna (HMO), but will change next open season if I find a Dr. who is good.

I basically have the same question so I thought I'd post it here---sorry if that's bad protocol, I've never used a listserv before. Anyway, I'm trying to find someone for my 12-year-old maybe possibly slightly autistic boy to just talk to every once in a while. He responds best to warm, cheerleader-y types. Any suggestions appreciated.

I've decided to use Family Compass in Reston (only have had one appointment, but I really like the social worker I saw--Joshua Metz). They have a range of providers that work as team.

I used to see Family Compass also. We saw Dr. Shtuhl who was great. I never thought I could top Dr. Shtuhl but we did when we saw Dr. Stanley Greenspan. He's the father of floortime. He is in Betheda, MD. It's a drive if you are in northern VA but for us worth it. If you want a good doctor locally see Dr. Shtuhl.
