so how "careful" do you need to be during the TWW?

Does anyone else feel like they are walking on eggshells during the TWW? I find myself taking the elevator and escalator instead of my usual jog/fast walk up the stairs. Is that just c-r-a-z-y? Can something like being on my feet or taking the stairs be a deciding factor in whether a pregnancy sticks, especially for someone who's prognosis is not so good? Am I the only one who has these nutty thoughts??

I worry about whether I should exercise, too. Also I wonder about having even a quarter cup of coffee! I don't have any answers but I'd be interested to see what other people think.

is this TWW after iui or ivf or natural?

You don't need to be careful at all.

You really don't think we need to be that careful ... just be healthy, drink lots of water, get proper nutrition etc. I also walk a lot more instead of doing really strenuos, prolonged gym exercise. And, try not to overthink/stress over it! I know that part is a lot easier said than done.

Oops "I" really don't think .. not "You".

This is very helpful as I am about to start my first IVF cycle as well.

So before 2ww, during stims, you can do normal activity except bounce around (like running), but it is ok to bike, eliptical?
and after transfer, same thing. maybe even take it a bit easier- like walking? (can you do eliptical etc.) after transfer?

thanks for your help!

2ww during an IVF cycle is very different from a regular 2ww, though. You might have slight OHSS and certainly wouldn't want to do any heavy exercises with inflated ovaries.

your doctor will tell you what to do, just listen to them. I did IVF and the first 24 hours after implanting I had to lower my activity. I ended up taking the day off work and just slept in and stayed at home and watched tv. After that I resumed normal activity.

first natural pregnancy i didn't know i was expecting and was working out hardcore with over 100 crunchies a day. I found out i was expecting nearly 3months into the pregnancy and never took prentals...i was 27 at the time, but i was not that careful at all, and even got a flu shot in this time period. DD is now 3.5 and SMART and HEALTHY and AMAZING!

PP, just FYI, it is generally considered safe and is even recommended to get a flu shot while pregnant.

In TWWs during IVF (if it's a fresh cycle so you stimmed), there's a risk of OHSS. My doctor told me every time not to really work out during the TWW because my ovaries were swollen and he said it would hurt. After I got a BFP, I wasn't as careful (did very light exercise on the elliptical, didn't even sweat or get my heartrate up) and paid for it. OHSS can be extremely painful so I would really ask your doctor lots of questions to be sure you aren't at risk.
