If your head is buried, a roar sounds like background noise. |
After they were attacked on October 7th. What do you think we did to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor, and rightfully so? |
I find it interesting how progressives are effectively cheering for a Trump victory. Like being able to say "I told you so" for a day is totally worth four years of misery - not just for women, minorities, the poor, the young, the environment, health care, but for Palestinians in particular. I never thought I'd see the day when the left is cheering for the Jared Kushner solution to the Middle East, but here we are. |
These are people that cheered for that crazy person that set himself on fire outside of the embassy and hailed him as some kind of hero. There is no amount of masochism that is too much for them. Unfortunately, there is a decent chance that they will get their wish. At least as a straight white guy I won’t be as affected as some others, and I doubt that I’ll feel too bad for them. |
Our problems and much of the worlds problems are a result of a lack of US leadership at the top. Trump and Biden have had their turns and have clearly failed to step up and take control like a viable POTUS should. As long as naive American voters are willing to vote for these two clowns, our leadership failures will continue. |
Maybe you could expound on this "lack of leadership". You realize that any decision has winners and losers and if you split the baby, both sides are angry. How have Biden and Trump clearly failed to step up? |
We are neither the source nor solution of the World's problems. We are not the world police, and we can't tell other's what to do. Who wins in November will have ZERO effect Israel/Gaza |
You’re not going to convince me and I’m not going to convince you. It’s my view that the way Israel has prosecuted this “war” over the past months is morally and legally criminal. I don’t think the ends justify the means, which are bombing and starving children as a basic matter of strategy. I don’t want the US to be providing military aid and political cover to a country that does that. Obviously this is embedded in the political establishment in both parties, for now, and as a Democrat I want my party to change its position. Voting for Biden isn’t going to do that, so I’m not going to vote for him. Unfortunately an individual vote in NY isn’t much leverage, but it’s all I’ve got. I hope others who feel similarly will do the same. |
So then your view is Israel should back off, wait under several years of peace and then be attacked again? But at least YOU didn't have to read about it in the news for a while and so you feel better about yourself? If I'm not correct, let me know. |
".. she wrote over her morning coffee." What a cop out. Go do something actually positive in support of Palestine. |
It’s people like you who are not listening, and taking people’s votes for granted. I despise minority rule, and have protested it every time the GOP has allowed it. Now, the Dems are doing the very same — at their own risk. If you think I’m cheering, you are sadly mistaken. This is 💯 on Biden and the Dems. If they truly cared about the US Biden would step down. It’s that simple. Right now this is a race between two massive egos. Trump is one, but Biden is one too. He is only in it to beat Trump again. There is zero reason the DNC needs to put up Biden. Zero. |
I don’t answer to you. I posted in response to a PP who claims to Democratic polling and is not understanding why Biden’s numbers aren’t higher. So I explained why I, a Democratic voter, am not voting for him in November. I think it’s shortsighted for the party to ignore that many voters are upset with Biden over Gaza. I don’t really care if you agree or disagree. |
Let me get this straight. The progressive solution to the problems in Gaza is for Biden to resign the presidency. And then everything will turn into rainbows and unicorns for the Palestinian people. It's that simple for the left. Never mind that President Kamala Harris will lose to Trump in nearly all fifty states. The down ballot realities will ensure that Republicans keep the Senate and likely the House too, not to mention most of the competitive State houses. An aggressively right wing pro-Israel cohort of evangelicals and allies of Bezalel Smotrich, the head of the Religious Zionist party, will then dictate US policy toward Israel. And these right wing advisors, who enthusiastically support settlements in the West Bank and the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, are what progressives think will bring a just peace and happiness for the Palestinian people. And to this end progressives are willing to send women's rights into the dark ages, destroy the environment, and ensure millions of Americans become ensnared in poverty. This is the progressive solution. And what all the student protestors are hoping will happen. Correct? |
DP. I don’t think the PP is saying that Biden should pull out of the candidacy because of Gaza. It’s because a lot of Democrats and swing voters aren’t happy with him for various reasons, including Gaza but also other things, like his age and obvious cognitive decline. And that a combination of these factors makes him likely to lose, which will lead to the Trumpian hellscape you describe above. The Democratic Party seems to be messaging to these voters, who cares about your concerns, vote for Biden because Trump. Rather than actually addressing Biden’s weaknesses and pressuring him to step down and allow a primary and some new blood. |
You’re right. Your choice to not vote for Biden does nothing to move your concerns forward. |
