That is a very long walk to Germantown Friends. 4.5 miles to be accurate. |
Maybe this one? Six minute drive, 34 minute walk. I think Penn Charter and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy are also nearby. https://redf.in/UvN9Xs |
Pretty, but on a major road across the street from a university—not well located for a family. |
Right, those are the major corridors and there are a lot of condos, apartments and shops along them. When we first came up house-hunting we had a hard time finding the neighborhoody neighborhoods. We just didn’t know where to look. They tend to be tucked away from the main drags—but they exist! |
I lived in this neighborhood in West Philly, Garden Court: https://www.trulia.com/p/pa/philadelphia/5116-spruce-st-philadelphia-pa-19139--2017312746
It’s about a mile walk to Penn’s campus. I liked it. There is a k-8 school, Penn Alexander School, that is public & run in conjunction with Penn. It is supposedly outstanding. Admission is by lottery in K for families living in the catchment. Double check if this house is in the catchment. The local ES is not great (if your child doesn’t get a spot in PAS), but Penn announced it is going to put money into that one too. There was a Friends Central bus stop in the neighborhood and a bunch of kids would wait for it every morning. |
