Worst bowel movement of my life today (TMI)

Anonymous
I am sorry, but I just had to tell someone about this horrible BM I had today. Unbelievably painful. I have been taking iron pills, combined with two stool softeners a day and things have been okay, but I forgot to take the stool softeners the past 2 days....NEVER AGAIN!

I was in the bathroom (trying to go) for 1.5 hours. It was honestly sorta like being in non-epi labor. I kept feeling the urge to push but it was too painful. I got down on all fours at one point, I even got in the bath (which helped), I EVEN HAD TO USE MY FINGERS to help get it out - they were like some hard rabbit turds and they were so painful. Eventually, after pushing for about one hour, I had the biggest BM of my entire life. It was horrible and painful and I think I need to stop taking those iron pills. OMG.

Oh I'm 34 weeks along. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I honestly don't know what else I should have done.

I'm sorry this has me belly laughing!
I'm glad everything "came out all right"
This reminds me of an old thread where a woman went on and on for days about how constipated she was, she ended up having a large following (you know like in twitter) asking for hourly updates.
It was hysterical, I wish someone could dig it up and post it!

Wow, sounds awful! I would quit with the iron and just try to eat a lot of veggies and molasses and sardines ... Unless you are anemic or something?

Good because while the experience was real and horrible, I was trying to be a bit humorous in my post because the whole thing was so damn ridiculous!!

Why are you taking iron?? Are you anemic?

Oh god bless you. I have tears in my eyes from laughing. But I have been there (sorta) and it is no kind of fun. Tell your doctor no mas! And I'm so glad everything came out all right.

Yep.

Have you tried squatting? I know it sounds weird, but for some reason a deep, as low as you can go, long squat seems to help when things don't want to get moving along for me. I've read the "upright" way we go in this country isn't so conducive to, well, you know. It's even worse if you have a higher-than-normal toilet. Some people use stools.

should've used an epidural

You poor thing, OP.

I've been anemic for 15 years and I know exactly what you're talking about. Tell this moron of a doctor to prescribe you a slow release iron pill so you won't die if you forget the SS...

I take Ferasorb and it's the BEST PILL EVER! It's a combo of B vit, folate and iron, it's the best I've ever taken in all this time.

And ask for a Rx for a suppository so you can have it just in case you forget about your SS again.

I've been there a couple of times and I can only imagine how hard it was. Poor thing... I hope you feel better...

I'm anemic, but only slightly so, and lasted all of 2 days on the iron pills before deciding to just eat more leafy greens instead. Sounds miserable.

Buy everything FiberOne - muffins, granola bars, cereal. It was such a lifesaver.

I also stuffed myself with miniwheats.
