Do I give a gift? (Jehovah Witness)

Anonymous
I was invited to a housewarming/new home get together by an acquaintance that is a Jehovah Witness. Is it offensive to bring a gift? Can they accept a gift?

Yes. It's really just Christmas and birthdays.

So, no gifts for these occasions? Why?

As long as you don't give them blood, you're good.

They just don't celebrate them.

Yes, my cousins are Jehovah's Witnesses and we send them anniversary presents instead of birthday/Christmas presents. All other occasions for gift-giving are fine- in fact my cousins are probably the most materialistic people I know- but birthday and Christmas gifts are forbidden by the religion.

Yes, a house warming gift is fine. My in-laws are of this religion, but we give them mothers day/fathers day and anniversary gifts, they don't do Christmas/Easter/birthdays.
