SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS INTERVIEWS TOMORROW...

Anonymous
My daughter's interview is tommorow. Are your children nervous about the interview?
Anonymous
Not nervous...but...is this interview more of a formality or will they actually narrow the pool still further after this?
Anonymous
They will narrow down the pool, I am one of the interviewers, so don't take it as a sure shot that your kid will get in. As a school, we will be accepting 130-140 freshmen, and interviewing 175 or so. Those 130 spots may be filled tomarrow, or we might go back and look at others who might have not done as well on the test, but might be a better fit in the long run.

Can you say what kind of a "fit" you're instructed to look for?

How many people interview, and are they all DCPS employees?

my child interviewed last year, it was a mix of teachers and walls students

PP: Did your child enroll?

20:34...no, DC opted for Wilson instead, one of the academies

BTW, first the child goes in to be interviewed alone, then parents/guardians go in for a few minutes

How does your child like Wilson? It seems rare that we hear of kids who don't really like Wilson, but there are kids who struggle at Walls or complain and transfer. I wonder if Wilson will offer an IB track for all of the IB Deal kids flooding in.

My child is having a better time than friends at walls, but not as great as friends at ellington
As the parent, I think I would still have preferred walls, but those kids are really seeming to be stressed

Did the interview with DC today. Something off there, can't put finger on it. A little disjointed, and they couldn't answer some questions. Most importantly, no one seemed bowled over with enthusiasm about anything in particular. Student who lead the tour wish they had lockers (they really don't!). Visiting Wilson next.

That is what they plan to do but I'm not sure where it stands at this point.

Not a consistent message. Making up as they went along, perhaps.
