OMG I can't wait until we stop talking about Whitney Houston

Enough America! She was a cracked out, over-rated singer, a neglectful mother, and a correct me if I'm wrong but a royal bitch and an entitled diva. And here we are, a nation in mourning. So weird. I thought the Superbowl chatter was annoying. This is worse.

She was beautiful and had an incredible voice. Can't speak to her role as a mother, although I think addiction problems are incredibly sad. I'm very hopeful that there will be much less judgment in the future, as more is learned about brain chemistry and "wiring." Here's hoping you and your loved ones never have to experience the pain.

Who held a gun to her head? No one. For every choice there is a consequence, and, if you choose to take drugs, legal or not, with alcohol, then death is a pretty certain consequence. She squandered her talent and she was a public figure and the public has a right to judge. If she had not died, SNL and late night comedians would still be making jokes about her.

Addiction problems ARE said... when they happen to nice people. When they happen to assholes they just make them insufferable. Why are we grieving the loss of a drug-addicted stranger who never gave back after being given SO MUCH and was horrible to all those around her? Because she was pretty once and a good singer?

OP you must be a 19 year old ass or an ignorant back woods country woman. Why are we grieving the loss of a drug -addicted stranger who never gave back after having given so much? We'll we're not grieving her loss, but we are grieving the suffering and desperation of addicted persons, who have reached a point where they can no longer help themselves let alone be giving or help others. It is the humanity in people that allows us to grieve for people's failings even when we don't have such failings. Behind that grieving is a deep concern and desire to want to extinguish all drug and alcohol use because it is the beginner drug and alcohol user that is always at risk for eventually becoming a drug abuser.

So agree. She was an entertainer. Not royalty or the President. The hoopla is unbelievable.

I am sick of the cult of celebrity in America. It is a huge waste of time and energy.

Mmm hmmm 16:01. You nailed it. I mean really. We should have more compassion. Murderer? Rapist? Thief? Abusive Parent? Wait, are they also an addict? Well you should have said so! Free pass for you! My deepest sympathies, you really have it SO very rough. You poor, poor dear. People just don't get it, do they? How much YOU suffer?

Whitney Houston was not, no way, no how, an overrated singer.

OP, just tune it out. That's what I'm doing.

I agree OP. It is sad but people die everyday and there are other things going onion the world that deserve some air time. Is it the media or have we really turned into a nation of reality tv junkies?

You are a total douchebag for disrespecting the dead famous or not.

I suspect you live a wee bit too much of your life through People Magazine and reality television.

I loved her music, but there are way more pressing things going on in the world than this. Not to say it isn't newsworthy, but that Whitney's getting so much coverage is a testament to how stupid the news has become.

CNN Presents "Death of a Diva" tonight? Seriously?!?! I'll tune into E! for that kind of programming. CNN should "present" the European debt crisis, the Arab world uprisings, and the actual issues coming up in the election instead of the rat race. Sadly, our news reflects that we'd rather be entertained, not informed.

She was ... but does that mean we should worship her?

It's sad she died but the OP is right she basically became a drug addict and stopped performing years ago.
