Where should we rent at Sea Colony?

We'd like to rent a house for two families (4 kids) next year that's walking distance to the beach and a pool. The list of available properties is enormous! Any tips on how to narrow it down? Thanks.

I just got back from Bethany/Sea Colony last week. On the east side of Rte 1, I think your only options are the high rise condo's, which are right on the beach. I don't think there are houses at Sea Colony, maybe on the west side but then you're not walking distance to the beach.... Though Sea Colony runs trams around their property, that seems like a hassle to me.

For 2 families, you could probably find 2 small (1 or 2 BR) condos in Sea Colony East right near each other, in the same building or even the same floor. Or if the kids are willing to share bedrooms, some of the bigger 3-BR condos sleep 8-10 people. I would recommend the buildings closest to the kiddie pools and activities-- These are Edgewater house, Dover, and Farragut. We stayed in Chesapeake which was close to everything too.

Thanks. On the Web site it looks like there a lot of houses: http://www.seacoastde.com/Learn/OurCommunities/SeaColony/HomeStyles/tabid/147/Default.aspx

But they're not near the beach? Bummer.

Ah, I found a map. What about the "sea villas"? Has anyone rented one of those?

Thanks for the link to the website -- very helpful! I just found a map of the Sea Colony properties: http://www.seacoastde.com/Learn/MapsandDirections/SeaColonyMap/tabid/104/Default.aspx

Quick follow up question: Has anyone been to Sea Colony after Labor Day in September? Do you know whether the pools are open then? From what I saw on the website, it seems that they close the outdoor pools after September 1. True?

10:41 PP here- Not sure of the answers to your questions.. But you should try contacting Resort Quest (the company that handles most of the rentals for Sea Colony). Just google it to find the number, or I think their number might be on that map you found.

Doh. Thanks! I picked up the phone and called. Very helpful. (The Edgewater pool is open until 9/14. The rest close after 9/1.)

Glad I could help. Edgewater House seemed to be where most of the action was, has a kiddie pool, main pool, and of course the beach is right there. What's nice about Sea Colony, besides the pools, proximity to the beach, and activities, is how close it is to everything. You can walk to the "downtown area" (very small but fun for strolling) and it's also a short car trip to other places-- Fenwick Island (which had a great mini-golf course) and Ocean City are 10 min. away, and Dewey/Rehoboth are like 15-20 min. away.
