Eyebrow Waxer

Anyone have a recommendation for someone good at shaping eyebrows, preferably around Friendship Heights? I had a bad experience at the Red Door there, so other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Erwin Gomez is amazing, he does such a great job that I go very infrequently b/c they grow out really well - but he is expensive (I think it's $50) - he has a woman working with him now who he trained & who is likely less expensive, but I don't know the exact cost. You could call his salon - in upper gtown on Wisc, Erwin Gomez Salon - it's very nice there - they even have laptops if you're having a pedicure...

i HIGHLY rec Oprah's guru -- the Anastasia brow system - you can find an Anastasia trained specialist at various Nordstrom's -- just call and ask if they have an Anastasia Brow Studio.

I also had some bad experiences at the Red Door in Chevy Chase. Carmen at PR @ Partners in Friendship Heights is great! She also does sugaring, which is much better than waxing for the bikini area.

Dolores Lombardo @ Cam Lai in Georgetown, she is great, and uses a very gentle and organic wax. she does wonderful facials too.

I'm curious - for the PPs who had a bad experience at Red Door - what happened? I have an appointment there next weekend for an eyebrow wax and facial and now I'm nervous.

I second Erwin. I think Red Door was very disappointed to lose him.

OP here. My bad experience was with the spa manager, about a year ago. While she was perfectly nice, she did not shape my eyebrows whatsoever. I think she just used a comb and a tiny bit of wax above the brow. During the appointment, I noticed that she did not apply any wax in between my brows. I asked her about it, and she did apply wax there. When I got home, however, none of the hair strands had been removed. It was the worst wax job I have ever seen. I also used to go for manicures and pedicures there, and stopped because their front desk is a mess.

Like waxing but with a sugar paste. Supposed to stick only to hair, not skin.
