Anyone have flooding issues?

In FX. We have a creek behind our house and our road is flooded. I hope this rain stops soon.

We're in Bethesda - a lot of our neighbors have flooded basements. Also, a few roads are closed.

Holy cow! DH and friends are driving home from Reston and they are calling me to tell them that none of the cars are moving. Just saw this picture when I was looking up traffic for them:

It took me an hour to find a way out of falls church city earlier to get home. Just about every road I turned down was flooded.

We are lucky that our house is on a slope so our basement is nice and dry, but we have a wet spot on the ceiling in one bedroom.

But the chances are only 40% so maybe it will be okay.

Water is coming into the basement and there's not much I can do about it. I have put down towels and turned on the dehumidifier but I can't do anything to really fix it until it dries out.

We had about 6 gallons of water filling up the basement window well and slowing seeping into the rec room. We taped some plastic sheeting to the wall and opened the window and tried to direct most of the water onto DD's inflatable pool. The rug still got very wet.

Does anyone know if the carpet cleaner removes excess water on the rug? Are there non-clorine disinfectant to use with the cleaner?

No, but my very old wooden front door is so swollen from the humidity that it makes the whole house shudder every time I open or close it. I'm worried the door or the frame could sustain damage.

Any suggestions for that?

It's never been painted. It's a 100-year-old chestnut door, with a thick glass panel.
