| Just curious what people in general do... |
| No. Tipping is for service. |
| Yes, but someone takes that order, and then prepares food for you with packaging and cutlery, etc. I tip between 5 and 10%. |
| Well, not generally. If I just go in to a restaurant and get the food to go, then no. But I do tip the Dunkin Donuts folks most mornings, because I get a large iced coffee every single morning, and they always have it waiting for me. |

No. I was a waitress and manned a takeout counter as a hostess for years (through high school, college and grad school) at about 5 different restaurants in 2 cities and was probably tipped twice on take out in all that time.
It's a nice gesture but it's not expected. |
| No. |
| Yes. 15 to 20%. |
you know all that is included in the price, right? |
| No, you're up at the counter, and purchasing food, just like other items in a store. |
|
10-15%
I used to work at T.G.I.Fridays in college and they always designated one server to handle all the takeout orders for the night. Of course I always made less money in tips those evenings, but then again, it was an easier job (no drink orders to handle, clean up, etc). Some tip was expected from take out orders, or else it would have been just the minimum $2.xx per hour for the entire evening. |
Oh come on. Seriously? It was expected? This should be the manager's assigned duty - someone who doesn't work for tips. |
| I do not tip if I go in to pick up the food. If I do curbside pickup I always tip. |
Same poster as above. What that said, it would also depend on where I get takeout from. If it's from Mobyy Dick's, I tip in between 5-10%. From a restaurant, I tip closer to 15%. I'm assuming those at Moby Dick's get paid more than the restaurant server minimum wage. |
| I tip 10%. |
Yes - this was done on a rotating basis, so one server wasn't stuck with take out orders all the time. The manager's job is the manage the restaurant.. not do take out orders. |
