Protocols for AMA (42)

Anonymous
Ladies, I've just come across this link and I'm curious to know if you any of you have had experience with these two "newer" protocols by SIRM. I've had one IVF cycle that looked like it was going along fine canceled at retrieval for all immature eggs, and this seems to suggest that the antagonist protocol, which I was on, is not good for women over 39. I am curious if you are over 40 and a) have had success with antagonist and/or b) tried these newer protocols (4 and 5 in the link)? http://www.ivfauthority.com/2010/11/individualized-approach-to-ovarian.html
I've had a couple different opinions on my case and both REs seemed to think I should just try antagonist again, perhaps with ER taking place later after trigger than normal.

My first protocol at 40 was antagonist and I got pregnant on that cycle. Unfortunately, it was an ectopic, but it did work. The other protocol that worked for me was estrogen priming. I never cycled at SIRM, so can't comment on their protocols. Hopefully others can and will.

I've done three IVF cycles. The first at age 40 was an antagonist. I was probably way understimmed based on my age and fsh level. Retrieved 4, had nothing to transfer. My second IVF at 41 was with SIRM. The LA10E2V protocol. I took forever (17 days) to trigger. They retrieved 4 eggs, 2 transferred, grade 1 and 3. Ended in a chemical. My RE later felt the Lupron over suppressed me.

My third ivf at yet another clinic was an antagonist with Femara added in. Everything was immature at retrievel. Ended up with one egg that caught up and transferred to a grade 2 embryo. BFN. I definitely think that although my response was poor, SIRM's protocol gave me the best chance so far. Of course I've done alot with supplements to try improve egg quality after my first dismal ivf, so I think it may be a combination of things that made the improvement. Good luck!

I vote for SIRM. I did a long lupron at age 40 at DF. 3 perfect blasts. Failed. I then did two antagonist cycles, where I ended up with nothing. I had only a few follicles grow at all and nothing retrieved (empty follices). Then two months later just before 41st bday, went to SIRM on the EPP protocol. Had 13 eggs retrieved, ALL fertilized and 3 went to blast and I have a baby girl!!!! This was my best cycle ever. I highly recommend SIRM. Especially AMAers. I wouldn't waste time anywhere else.

Do you think it matters which SIRM location you go to? Lehigh Valley would be closer to our area but is NYC the only one to use?

17:30 here...I went to the GLV location, my RE was Dr. P. If you go there, you will also be seen by Dr. C. I wasn't much of a fan of his and made sure that Dr. P did my ER and ET. If you are looking at doing one of their agonist/antagonist conversion protocol, I think it is the same regardless of which center you go to. It seems to pretty much be a recipe and they don't seem to defer from it regardless of your response. I am trying to decide between going with Dr. T in NYC or Dr. Check at Cooper. Really think there is no point in a high stim protocol when I produce such few eggs. NYC office is the only one which offers low stim ivf to poor responders.
