Viola Davis strikes me as sane and grounded from what I can know from IG. |
This exactly. |
I don't think you can tell anything from an interaction with them or their social media or their public image.
People who aren't nice people can have moments that are kind and sweet and come across great and people are are nice people can have moments of irritability, annoyance, frustration. I am most impressed by those who stay fully out of the limelight and just raise their families or live their lives separately from their career. Their career is their job but they don't seek fame and just want to be left alone outside of work duties. People are so multifaceted. How do we really define normal or well adjusted? Even on this thread it seems to be defined in many different ways |
I think normal is different than well adjusted. Take Dave Grohl, for example. I practically worship him and agree he seems pretty well adjusted and like a wonderful guy. But it’s pretty well known that he and his wife have an understanding that he can sleep around when he’s on the road or at least they did years ago.
Is that normal? I mean, I imagine most of us don’t have that understanding or situation with our husband and father of our children, but I can see why she would put up with it. He seems like a great dad and they have a great life. If she divorced him, I’m sure financially she would do fine, but a couple years later he would just end up marrying someone else and probably having more kids with her and that would really affect and split the time with her kids and they wouldn’t do things as a family. Plus, I imagine she’s playing the long game and he’s probably settled down quite a bit now that he’s in his 50s and doesn’t do that as much. Would be hard to divorce him in his early 40s to see him get married and settled down with someone else. I doubt most of us would put up with that from our “normal” husbands. BTW I’ve heard the same about Matt Damon. |
Gary Sinise seems like a fundamentally good guy.
I have never heard anything bad about the following: Saoirse Ronan Pierce and Keeley Smith Brosnan Liam Neeson Michelle Yeoh Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves |
Different strokes and all that, but this is one heck of an extended justification for accepting a partner's infidelities. You OK? |
LL Cool J
Debbie Allen |
I’m not sure why so many PPs think Dave Grohl is so well adjusted. He’s an AIDS denialist. Anyone who doesn’t believe that HIV destroys the immune system and causes AIDS is not well adjusted. WTF?

Betty White |
Honestly, I’m going to say Dolly Parton because she’s got a clear public persona and keeps her private life thoroughly private and spends her money on everyday things (for others — thinking of the imagination library among other things here). |
Steve Carell?
Sarah Michelle Geller and Freddie prinze jr seem to lead pretty quiet lives |
These are the ones who seem pretty well-adjusted and have strong family ties and friendships:
Reese Witherspoon Jen Garner Emily Blunt Ryan Gosling Emma Stone Jen Aniston Courtney Cox Jimmy Kimmel |
Didn’t read the whole thread but the KB roommate story is just about absolute confirmation of this. |
Alice Cooper. |
I couldn’t agree less with the many on here I have met or worked with. Ugh. |
