Yes will see! Madison super unique and lots to do, agree. Freezing but DC doesn't mind. I didn't love the campus - found it gray and too urban except for by lake. But that's me. I like the green open space and traditional buildings. |
Would you care if it's 22k more? |
Oh man I didn’t see that. Yes, i would care 🤣. If WI is 22k more I would definitely choose UGA! UGA is a great school and Athens is fun. Take back everything I said before lol |
Haha!! Fingers crossed he feels same. |
They have lots of amazing alumni. How does that translate to today though? |
Also isn't job growth huge now in the south bd Midwest? |
Meant isn't job growth in the south better than the Midwest? |
If he doesn’t care, pick UGA. It’s less expensive.
My DD seriously considered both and came close to going to UGA. Did not care for Wisconsin campus though and (unlike your son) did care about the weather. |
Everything points to UGA except outdated views about Wisconsin being better. So if I were you I would tell DS that 1) UGA business easier admit and 2) UGA less expensive |
He knows that too- but will reiterate! Are those views outdated? It seems to be better according to many people and the dumb rankings. |
DP- Those views are very much outdated. People just spew outdated information and there is a weird anti-south bias on here. |
I agree there is a strong anti-South bias on DCUM. But there tends to be a fairly strong anti-Midwest/anti-any “flyover country” bias as well. Historically Wisconsin has been much more well regarded than UGA. Even though UGA has climbed in the rankings in recent years, many older people (ie, parents and grandparents of college age kids) will not know that UGA is now well regarded too but will still think of Wisconsin as a great school. How much will it/would it bother your kid/does it matter what people think? He’ll be able to get a great education and have a great college experience at either school and most employers who are hiring recent college grads will know a bit more than the general population about college reputations. Plus his grades and accolades in college will matter more than where he went anyway. so what does it really matter? |
I agree with you, just unsure how great Wisconsin's rep is to turn down. I know a ton of people deciding between UGA and Wisconsin so I guess they must be somewhat on par with one another. |
To me, it's pretty much a tie between Wisconsin and UGA. So at this point, it just depends on which "vibe" your kid prefers. |
Liked both!! Really ridiculous lol. But one is much cheaper so he may have to vibe w that. |
