Tickets were a fortune so dinner has to be on the cheaper side. Where to park/eat? Thanks!! |
The on-site cafe was bad and overpriced. I don't know if the restaurant is any better, but it's more expensive. Parking at the Kennedy Center was $15. The free shuttle from the Foggy bottom metro runs frequently, so that may be something to consider. There's a Devon and Blakely sandwich shop and a few other things by the Metro stop. |
Georgetown is only a quick drive away. No more than 10 minutes. Tons of options there. |
There's a bar with good food right next door in the Watergate. Don't recall the name but the sliders were yummy, the waitress was efficient, and they had a lot of beers on tap. |
We were just there two weeks ago for a Saturday evening show. Parking was $20, not $15. As for eating, if you want someplace other than the Kennedy Center, just make sure you go really early. You need to be back and parked before 7:00 for a 7:30 show. That means that you probably have to get to a restaurant no later than 5:30.
FWIW, we just ate at the Cafeteria. Food was mediocre but fine and while it's somewhat overpriced, there isn't any tipping. At $20 per hour for a babysitter, we just didn't have the time get there early enough to find a restaurant. But, we did enjoy having drinks on the rooftop before the show. |
I love Founding Farmers before a show at the Kennedy Center but be sure to make reservations way in advance.
I also always park for free on the street outside of the watergate and walk a block or two to the KC. Generally shaking my head as I see people pulling in to pay their 20 bucks ![]() |
We take Metro. |
