what is incorrect? |
Evergreen is no longer available to FCV in the Fall, and Bles is closed (under construction). |
TSJ continues to hire the absolute worst coaches. |
Someone new? |
8 minus 2 = 6...there is 6 other fields where practice could be next season |
You clearly aren’t from around the area. The only ones suitable for GA (turf, lights, adequate space) are Hanson and maybe George Mason. Hanson is an in demand county owned field that FCV only gets 1 day slotted per week. George Mason is in Fairfax and would be quite a rug pull on parents who expected Loudoun fields and now have 30-45 minutes added to commute. |
Another great hire with the announcement GA (coach, not the league). Wonder why so many seem to be scrambling to leave Loudoun. |
You also have to pay a LOT to rent George Mason, and the other private fields they are using for tryouts (Nysmith, church field.) It is not economically feasible for regular practices Huge cost difference compared to county permit fields |
So do they have less teams playing on those 6 fields next year? Because they were full this year, and you have to find space for everyone. Maybe 8 teams on a field? |
the reason rhymes with dark lion |
or FCV gets an increase of public fields through the county allocation process because they loss access to their main private field space |
I can speak as someone whose daughter accepted a spot on FCV GA1 team and who is happy to be there. We actually liked the new FCV coach and aren’t that worried about the practice field situation. People who seem to be throwing shade at FCV appear to be headed elsewhere, so it isn’t clear to me why those who are already gone spend so much time focusing on the past. I for one am not worried about possibly being overmatched against other clubs, because if you’re not playing against better players you’re playing on the wrong pitch. See ya next Fall! |
Clearly this DP has no clue about the way the system works. If your DD doesn't perform well and your team loses many games, they get replaced and the club loses access to the league. This player is being given a spot on GA league that's not deserved. She didn't put in the same effort of more competitive players to get there and as a result will not be successful. People are throwing shade because liking a coach and being qualified as a good coach are two very different factors. For example, DR has only been coaching travel for about four years and was given a position as a GA coach. He has no knowledge of selecting players, he never played soccer at the college level and the good players can't stand him. It all sounds exciting if your a first timer but when your daughter gets injured because she's out of her league you may have a different opinion. |
Did DR even play at the recreational level? |
Why does that matter? We've had plenty of former accomplished players who were terrible coaches. Coaching kids teams has more to do with how you relate to them and communicate than your personal skill level. I mean, the things we're talking about coaches teaching fundamental soccer at the youth level isn't exactly rocket science. |
