Our marriage is hanging by a thread, we've been to several marriage therapists over the years, none have really been of much help. Of course, it's not really their fault because it's difficult to deal with a situation like ours.......husband is diagnosed with narcissitic tendencies, had a 4.5 year affair and strip club addiction, discovered 3.5 years ago. All of that stopped immediately upon discovery, but despite him being in therapy since then, his progress has been VERY minimal and in many ways he's gone backwards.
I know, why the hell am I still in this marriage? 1. It's not financially feasible to get out. 2. We have a 14 year old only child (son) with Tourette's and Lyme disease and stress makes both conditions worse. 3. Despite everything, I still do love my husband, but that is fading as time goes by. He is pushing me to go to marriage therapy, but I am resisting because I feel like it's a hopeless case. However, I feel that perhaps there is a chance if we could find someone really competent. We have been together almost 30 years, married for 23, so we both have a lot invested in the marriage. Would love to hear from anyone who might know of a great therapist. TIA! |
Linda Rogers is in Falls Church. DH and I see her for help with infertility and really like her a lot. She absolutely saved our friends' marriage too. http://lindarogersphd.com/ |

Anybody know of marriage counselors in NOVA who take Carefirst insurance? |
bump! |
bump |
Nearly all require upfront payment then you submit to CareFirst for reimbursement. You should get back 80%, sorry. |
Thanks for posting this thread! My husband and I searched around and found Glen Denlinger at Well Marriage Center. Jake has really liked him and so do I. $145/session but we get a partial insurance reimbursement. We've been to 3 different counselors but it's amazing what a good counselor can do. Good luck everyone! |

Did u try free counseling from a church?
Next option, pray and love. Give all the love u got. Forgive for what he did , start over. Difficult, yes, impossible no. Believe me it isn't easy being on your own either. Have u tried positive thinking? Count your blessings. I have a husband with NPD, married for about same number of years. I go to the positive quotes on Facebook, it helps me. Meditation helps too. "Life is short, live it.anger is bad dump it. Love is rare, grab it, memories r sweet, cherish them" Do try to do things u love, go out with friends if u can. I hope this helps. Best of luck! |
