I finally bothered with the "Set Delay" button on my cheap Mr. Coffee coffee maker last night thanks to this thread. I woke up to the smell of brewing coffee- first time ever. Thanks DCUM! Kicking myself for never bothering to use this very basic feature before.

Why wouldn't you just run it after you're done in the kitchen? I'm trying to figure out the benefit of the time. We tend to run ours after dinner. And then it's dry in the morning. What are you doing?

I order online in advance so it is ready when we get there and then eat at the restaurant. I use the leftovers for her lunch the next day.

My husband LOVES the Moby Dick's kabobs. They are not too hard to make at home (you can also just make entire chicken breasts, you don't need to cut into kabob-sized pieces). We just had this for dinner on Monday. Also, if you haven't taken her to CAVA, she if she likes that!

Question - why do you need to sent a timer to run it? Why don't you just run it after you load it?

Because my open floor plan house means the dishwasher noise disturbs my evening television watching. I'm having hearing issues and the background noise makes it even harder for me. When I waited to start it after TV on my way to bed, I always forgot. The timer means I set it, enjoy my murder shows, and know the dishwasher will run overnight.

We do it because our electricity is cheaper after 10 pm!

We set our electric car to charge at night after 10 pm because of this, but it never occurred to me to set appliances to run at the same time.

-The viral unbrush brush, is actually amazing. I have one for me and one for my dog. My dog no longer minds being brushed.
-I threw out all my socks and purchased packs of white regular cotton socks. That way, I don't have to waste time looking for the "other" missing sock.
-I walk/run with my dog for 15-20 min to get a workout in. Run/jog for a minute, walk for a minute, and do it again.
-I have hand weights next to my desk at home and take a 5 min break when working to do an arm/shoulder workout. Another 5 min break to do lunges/squats.
-Here's my lazy girl chicken dinner: I take boneless/skinless chicken thighs, season with salt, pepper, garlic, brown sugar (whatever you want). Heat up a pan, no oil, no butter, and put the chicken in there, left untouched for 10 min. In the meantime, stick rice and a bag of veggies in a microwave. Flip the chicken. After 5 minutes, turn down the heat to low, add a little chicken broth, scraping the bits and let it reduce a little bit. Done.

We do DIY cava bowls at home with the Cava harissa - they sell it at Yes! organic and some other grocery stores here. Rotisserie chicken, couscous/rice/greens, harissa, hummus, feta, roasted veggies if I’m feeling fancy. Easy and delicious.

After years of buying heeled work shoes- pumps, boots, sandals etc. that were comfortable enough to walk in from the car to my office and at the office all day, a co-worker said-- you get shoes for "sitting down," not really for walking on pavement.

Wow. Life changer.
I know keep my pumps (which I only wear at the office anyway), at work. I cycle them out when the seasons change. I usually have about 5 pairs at the office. It has been so great to just walk out of the house in my sneakers and change my shoes at work. Saves me time in the morning making a decision on what shoes to wear. I get to my desk and can leisurely decide, or even change my mind mid day! Saved me from my work shoe obssession.

In summer you can do it in the middle of the night when it's cooler. If the kitchen is near the family room with the TV, you can avoid the noise of the dishwasher by setting it to go when you're asleep at the other end of the house.

This is a great idea. I thought I was the only person who needs subtitles specifically bc of dishwasher noise + the open concept kitchen/living room. My new-ish dishwasher is louder than the jet noise in palisades. and it take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to run through a cycle.

My husband has hearing aids so the subtitles are on all the time. I don't like watching TV without them now. In the past, actors had to annunciate clearly for overhead mics, but I understand they mic them up under their clothes now, and they are more prone to mumbling.

I take papers to shred to UPS. I take a shopping bag every other week - cleaning out my home office and my deceased parents’ paperwork. So worth it - I was trying to use my rinkydink home shredder and would spend way too much time waiting for the shredder to cool down, emptying it, etc.

I think I spent $5.50 last time (printed a 15 percent off coupon). Done!

Also, my teens - who continue to snack until late - just load their dirty dishes into dishwasher so sink clear in the morning. (It took a few reminders for teens to successfully “close the door fully and press start.”
